I had thought of doing some trucks tire treads, had a filter started once even. These look more like bicycle tires, but very nice at that. smile:)

Variants 1 and 3 are definitely bicycle tires. Variant 4 is a modern motorcycle tire, while 5 and 7 are tractor tires (at least that's what they look like to me! smile:) ) Not sure what 2 and 6 are, maybe robot tires? Variant 8 is supposed to be more like car tire, but it's more of the performance wide, low profile tire type. I had an idea for a more classic car tire tread, with S shapes in rows, but couldn't get it quite right. I'll likely try again when I get a chance.

----Fair enough, plus, the description says = "Description Creates tire tread patterns for cars, trucks, robots, bicycles, tricycles, motorcycles, airplanes, etc.", so yer covered for pretty much anything with wheels ha-ha. smile:D

More usage would be nice. smile:D

I've got a few updates / improvements to many of my filters underway, and a couple new filters I wanted to finish up before my 90day demo expires (in about a week). But it's been a real busy week so far, not sure how many I'll get to before the clock runs out. smile:(

without looking at the guts of this one, it strikes me that if you used an invert component you could lay down tracks.

OK, I squeezed in an update to this one before the deadline. Lots of new (better) tread patterns and cleaned up the internals and controls a bit. The first six pattern types are variants of the original pattern generator, and the last six pattern types are geometric.

Randomize doesn't always work as well as I'd like it to, but this will have to do for the time being. smile:|

The treads look a little *flatter*, but there is more variety now I think. I really dig this filter, and hopefully others will check it out, so selmo can get his/her free copy of FF and keep up the good work. Since there is often a lack of quality filters being submitted, it's nice to see some that had some real thought & effort behind them. smile:)

I removed some of the lighting parameters to simplify the controls. You're right, some tires do look flatter when viewed in FF. I made this filter mostly for my 3D work, where the bump and diffuse maps would be used in another application for rendering.

thanks! It's always nice to have hard work appreciated! smile:D

FF is really cool, appealing to both the programmer and the artist in me. There's a certain kind of nerd-fun in thinking how one could assemble a filter to get the results you want. It doesn't always work exactly how I want it to, but it's still challenging and fun to tinker with.
