Cool random sci-fi stuff. I reduced the render time by 1/4 or more, by turning down the *details* setting on 3 or 4 things. It's rare that a details setting that is greater than the *roughness* setting has much effect, in this filter is it only seemed to on the *blocks* module, the rest can be set to zero when roughness is at zero, or to the equivalent of the roughness setting, and you lose nothing except added render time.
jffe
P.S. I deleted the Perlin Noise that was going into the Refraction component, and changed the High Pass contrast setting from 98 to to 93 to compensate, and those changes sped it up 10% more, and it looks 98% like it did. I don't mean to come off like some know it all, I just wanted to see if I could speed the rendering up and keep it looking 95% as it was overall, and I was able to keep it about 96%-97% as it was, and speed it up around 1/3. Anyways, feel free to use these mods for an update if you choose to. Filter Forger

Ok...this is becoming one of my favorite filters now.
You get such a rich complexity to all the industrial componenets, and the way they are illuminated is brilliant.
This will definatly become a HU...well, by me at least LOL

Taken your suggestions, resubmitting should show Monday [ have another peek if you can spot anything I've missed ] - added zoom which added time - got rid of a couple of bits and pieces - thanks for helpful suggestions. Quote |

Thanks Rawn - I've found it one of the fun ones for hitting random on - the new zoom mode and detail control you'll find I think have improved filter alot Quote |

----Yer welcome, I only looked inside cause the filter presets looked pretty cool, but it took too long to render (too long for me = over about 40 seconds ha-ha). Hopefully my ideas help it render faster, in which case everyone wins, and Carl's filter runs faster and does 97% of what he intended it to do to begin with.

This is excellent Carl. You sure know how to make me wish I still had FF. I hope to use this one day in one of my projects.
I try to avoid the forums because I hate to see the old gang talking filters and having fun but I just had to stop by and see what you have been working on. Nice job. @ronviers

I hadn't realized your trial was over, if this filter goes HU, seeing I incorporated your zoom [ very nice thankyou ] you should get a HU, though your filter deserves HU by it self - I remember jffe making an offer of sharing his HU and vlad agreeing [ though I don't know the final out come ] I have one spare, have you any HU [ I'm sure you've got some that will go HU in time ]and maybe some one else will donate - or even lend you till yours reach HU........ you'd were just blossoming into a great filter designer......... my offers there and surely some one else wants ron to stay who's got a spare or two HUs

No problems here Carl - I'm gearing up for full-on Maya mode. I'm not much of a multi-tasker. Once I get started with Maya I plan on staying immersed until I have something to show for it. I should have the PLE running by the end of the week and I already have all I can do getting familiar with terminology. It going to be great! @ronviers

Hi Carl - this was the first filter I opened with my new non-trial version of FF.
Maybe I waited too long because I have no idea what you are doing here - it looks cool though. I think it will take me a few days to get my head back into FF.
This texture has a great look. Hopefully a game maker will get a hold of it and use it like crazy. @ronviers
