This is my first and last "abstract" work

"Abstaction" - is not my style at all. I never
understood popularity of this style because (in my
opinion and "very popular" in 60's russian politic
named Nikita) it's absolutelly useless in real life.

The only reason I`ve add this filter is my constant
searching for harmonical color combinations.
For example, black-brown hues (colors, shades) in
gradient #7 in this filter I'll use in "coffee"
imitation in one of my work. And, maybe, someone also
will find something for himself...

P.S.

As I said I will not continue to create in this style,
but I can improve this filter adding new gradients,
controls or something else, but only if You need it!

So, I'm always open to Your comments, advices and critique
as I also always interesting in improving my abilities and
helping in it to someone who need it (If I can be useful,
offcause).

Thank You for attention!

Best regards,
Constantin Malkov

Your first example looks very oily, made me think of an oil slick invading a once pristine shoreline. Very interesting in it's color and movement smile:)

Me either smile:D
I love the classic art style myself, color and composition in balance with an appropriate mood for the subject have always appealed to me. If I can't understand what I'm looking at... well... smile:-p hehe.

I'm afraid I cannot write it here how he had
called abstractionists because I will be banned... smile:)
(And I will need to have Russian-English Dictionary of
swearwords to translate it)

But after he had visited this exhibition it was not be
popular to be abstractionst in our country...

most things i've seen called abstraction are not very good. a true abstraction will convey the original idea of the thing/person, while skewing it almost to the point of not doing so and yet still retain the original concept. most abstractions today do not retain the original concept very well or at all and thus are not really abstractions at all.

and that being said, i was in no way referring to your filter here. just talking about abstract painting in general.

regarding your filter, i like it. i wouldnt really call it an abstraction, though. its' simply colorful shapes. to be an abstraction it needs to be an abstraction of a something or a someone. unless you meant to say that it's an abstraction of plastic itself; then i can see that.

but regardless, it's an interesting mix.
If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

Hehe, you don't have to worry... I think all of us now know what he probably was saying to that cameraman with that look on his face and fist in the air smile:D

Craig, I wasn't aware you knew so much about art... but that description no longer applies today in our 21st century. I just looked it up in the Wikis under Abstract_Art and this is what it says about it today:

"Abstract art is now generally understood to mean art that does not depict objects in the natural world, but instead uses color and form in a non-representational way.[1] In the very early 20th century, the term was more often used to describe art, such as Cubist and Futurist art, that depicts real forms in a simplified or rather reduced way—keeping only an allusion of the original natural subject. Such paintings were often claimed to capture something of the depicted objects' immutable intrinsic qualities rather than its external appearance. (See abstraction.) The more precise terms, "non-figurative art," "non-objective art," and "non-representational art" avoid any possible ambiguity."

Interesting, huh? We learn something new every day smile;)

When I lived outside Washington D.C. I was able to go to the Museums on weekends, in that area it's called 'going to the mall'. Not to be confused with a normal American Mall. The is mall is outside and lined with National Musems, including the National Gallery of Art and also my favorite of the museums. Here's more info about 'The Mall' for those not in America. http://www.nps.gov/history/nr/travel/wash/dc70.htm

I have my favorites and my tastes range. Not based on poster prints but seeing originals close up. I don't live in that area anymore and do miss the National Gallery of Art and also the Smithosian. There has been some Abstract Art at the Smithsonian Museum that I have liked very much. Nice thing about art is that it's 'interpreative'. Oh and hey I'd love to know how to curse in Russian~ smile:D

About your filter. Sorry about that ,, you talk about art and I go off topic. Luv the photos btw...

Best Preset JMO (Just My Opinion) is #5. Strong presets 2, 4, 6. When you make presets the varient depends on the parent. I would have used those 4 to make 20 presets. With #5 propably being the lead preset as #1. Not sure about the name... plastic doesn't seem to describe the filter that way. Update with presets made from 2,4,5 and 6, possibly put a color picker in so that the filter colors can be changed from the settings panel. If you are wanting a more 'techno' look then presets 7,, or an 'Alien Egg' look then preset 8.

Background filters like this one are useful in some web designs.

Bottom line I luv the filter~ You did good! The depth is this one is very nice. Under the hood was rockin!!! smile:D smile:D smile:D
