Nice work!!! Love the colors...... I think these color patterns could be used nicely on other fabric textures as well..... smile:devil:

thanks, steve smile:)

yes, the filter is designed to give a variety of looks, colors and textures, even carpets and ribbed fabrics to a certain extent.

now this one shows a bit of an anomoly in the corners. i think it's something to do with the 'any angle rotate', but i'm not sure. i couldnt really find a way to eliminate it except to turn the angle to something else:

Cool!!! Some of those look kinda fluorescent..... smile8)

Humble suggestion.....I would lock presets on the horizontal and vertical and not use any angles.....I think would look better and be how 99.9999% would use it and tile it.....but that's just me.....and I don't know what the hell I'm talking about..... smile;) smile:D LOL....

This work out nicely you can get millions of varying fabrics out of it [ the way I like it ], not doing 3d stuff don't know if its good or bad to have angle control but from a 2d point of veiw I like having that control smile;) smile:)

steve, yes, i toyed with the idea of putting all the presets squared up, but one of the other things about rotating is that it changes the weave look a bit; enough that i didnt want to lose some of those looks in the presets. i know the rotation breaks the seamless, also, but i really wanted to showcase that rotating all by itself can give a different look to the texture. one can always take the rendered image into an external editor and rotate it that way to put it back to normally squared. it can really make quite a difference in the look.

carl, yes, i tend to make my filters maybe not all encompassing, but with a lot of variety. and i like control also. this was somewhat discouraged in the earlier days, well, some of which for good reason, but if i'm making a 'rock' filter, then i tend to want to put all possible rocks in it. hehe, that doesnt work very well, but it is somewhat feasible to do a smaller, sub-category like 'granite' and be fairly comprehensive. you're still not going to get every possible granite look or permutation, not by a long shot, but i'd rather do one very comprehensive granite than 50 different granites that cover that same range and that usually means more controls.

on the other hand, vlad has a valid point in keeping things simple, 5 to 10 controls per filter, so that folks have an easier time of it. but, i'm of a mind that folks in this business are generally pretty smart and can handle things a bit more complex. i mean, if you can learn photoshop and 3d programs and that sort of thing, you've got some know-how and ability to learn, so, i tend to give them that credit and worry only about if my filter works right and gives good value for what it is. besides, i use these things myself and i want controls and variety and i want to find it all in one place easily. and i love having some unpredicted results by randomizing and finding something i'd never even thought of before come up. that just tickles the devil out of me, well, if it's any good, that is smile:)

1- 4 that you have posted here are very nice and would be useful to me if they tiled. I haven't checked out the filter yet so maybe they do. smile:)

well, that's the thing, ahimsa, the preset when rotated wont have the same texture as when not rotated. it's the rotation that is giving some of the texture parts their look. so, to keep that look AND have it squared up, you'd have to rotate it back to square in photoshop, psp or some other editor. just enlarge your canvas in photoshop and then rotate to the desired angle and drop the canvas back to size and save. so, it's an extra step to get some of those presets into a nice squared up mode.

as for tiling, they wont tile correctly when rotated. the any angle rotate snippet just wont do that. i tried adding an offset to see if i could get them to tile correctly, but i couldnt do it.

i might look at this one again down the road and see if i can add some 'weaves' to the thread portion to get some of those looks without rotating, but for now, it is what is it smile:)

now here's a thought... you could render out a rotated image and save it. take it into photoshop and rotate it and save that. then, import that image back into FF into a simple filter and tile it that way. might work smile:)
