ken, yes, this is possible. i use a 5 color gradient with a profile gradient and step curve. make 4 of these and rotate the profile gradient to make each side of the frame. blend these together two at a time and set the blend filter to opacity 100% and lighten blend mode. join the resulting two the same way. then, plug this into the 'margins' node on the frame component and there you go.
in fact, you could make each side have a different look if you had a step curve for each side. i just used two, one for the two sides and one for the top/bottom.
i just got done with FF so i'll post the screenshot the next time i have it running. i didnt use this in my own 'frame forge 3', but i've incorporated this into a new version i'm working on. the only thing i havent figured out is how to make the joins between horizontal and vertical sides have a bevel. that one may be beyond me.
