this is a good one. only thing i dont like is that almost every preset has a bit of a blurry look, like it's not quite in true focus.

Thank you. smile:D

Hey Craig
Not sure what you mean. Is it a problem with the presets or the entire filter? I know the ones that look like yarn are fuzzy, but that was intentional. It may be that I was partial to the fuzzy ones when I selected the presets. Let me know if I need to modify the filter - I will be happy to do it.

Thanks to both of you for taking the time to look at it. smile:)

hi ron,

my glasses must have been dirty yesterday. the ones that look a bit blurry/fuzzy are, #2, #3, #4 and #7. if that's intentional and alterable, then dont worry about it. for some reason, they all looked odd yesterday, but not so today. no idea why. lol. it looks good.

Hey Craig – I have been playing around with your perfect sphere snippet and I found settings that almost exactly replace the spheres I have been using in my filters. I found, by trial and error, that setting the gamma on the levels to 30.103000 gets closest. I wonder if there are any advantages to using yours?

Here is a race between your spheres and the tile spheres. On my machine, I get 1:22 when using your method, and 1:15 when using the tiles method. Not a controlled test, but it looks like from a strictly performance stand-point, your method is not as good – but there may still be other advantages. smile:)

i really have no idea, ron. i happened across that particular spheres effect while working on something else and just saved it off to its own filter and submitted it. i let 3d and betis and others go nuts on the mathematics of it all smile:)

Me too - I was just hoping it was faster.

Hey Craig and Steve - the updated version has posted so if you do not see the new presets then you will need to delete your local copy and force your browser to reload.

Thanks Craig. I usually work in marathon sessions, and since I do presets last, it means I am too tired to select good ones. Besides, it seems like the catharsis I get from submitting, frees my mind up to look at it with fresh eyes.
I tidied it up on the insides too. smile:)

A holy place is never empty! smile:)

Great to see that textile filters have continue and with such high level!
I'm talking also about Your "Stylized Weave" and "Plain Weave" filters.

Nice work, ronviers! Looks really great (V2 especially)! I've used already some of vars for rope modeling in a 3D project. Thanks for the work!

Thank you Constantin. I will attach a variation that has a modification that may be useful for your rope – it allows for increasing the number of strands (notice the extra offset on the 'Strands' slider).

Thank you meyendlesss, I hope it is something you will get to use.

I'll definately use it, ron.
I'm putting together a scene for the gallery here and I'll be using a bunch of filters that I think are cool.

I hate RSSing things because I never end up reading them, but I have RSSed the ff art gallery so I should know when you post something. I enjoy looking at the ff users work more than looking at filters, so I will try to look at all the new artwork at least once a week.

I do have one simple render posted here in a thread a while back...
It's pretty basic though. I did it to show my cigarette texture filter.

What the hell is this? I admit to being fragmentary to the fleecy ones, I mean, who hasn't been at some point, but the rest seems like total bs. smile:|

Steve, I can see no way that you are not at the bottom of this.

I remember seeing programs years ago that generated grammatically correct sentences using random words. It sounded a little like that. They can be very funny. smile:)
I have no idea what they have going on at that website or why they chose this thread.
