v6 looks very cool, think the others before that are too colourful lol, v8 looks interesting too.
Nothing wrong with a little insanity ;)

Looks about like this filter - http://filterforge.com/filters/5342.html Only with a fugly/shiny/neon rust coating or something. Not sure how it made EP, considering the FFV1 version is better, and this one breaks when you downsize it pixel control-wise (see the last 2 variations on the preview page), like it must use a frame in there or something. Not to mention the 800 controls for a filter that only really has one look.

I think this filter is promising.

I agree, it looks a little plastic-like. Instead of making reflectivity/blur/metallic sliders, maybe you could make inputs for them so the rust parts aren't shiny but the rest is.
They do have similar features, but they are aiming for different things, so I don't think that's a problem.
The controls are a little confusing, but a little re-ordering, re-naming, or maybe some tips in the filter description would solve that. I know this is asking a lot, but I think if you've gotten this far, a little more is definitely in your scope. ![]() |

lol.. I hadn't noticed that it got an editor's pick. Well what do you know.
I'm kinda surprised at that myself. This was one of my first filters with 2.0 so I know I could do it better now, I actually had some ideas for that the other day, so I will revisit it at some point. Right now I'm stuck on swirly spiral stuff. Personally I like filters that have lots of controls. Much better than useless filters that have none and only do one look. I do go over board with them, but thats because I love to tweak and I like a filter that isn't a one trick pony. The one thing I would love to see in FF is a way to separate sections of controls and name them, so that they didn't all bleed together. Thanks for the input guys.. I was wondering why it was getting comments all the sudden. Should have known. I'll surely try to make it better now. JffE.. my new goal is to make a filter that has 800 controls, thanks for that idea ![]() colin Fizgig |

You might try giving them grouped logical names: if I have a half dozen kaliedoscope names, for example, I'll give them names like: K repeat, K variation, K offsetH, K offset V, and so on.
Btw: I track all the downloads of my filters. (Just 'cuz I think it's interesting and I'm OCD like that). I've found that EP's get something like 10X the downloads of non EP's. So they're almost guaranteed to go HU (which translates into FF goodies). |

nice filter.
If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

----Ha-ha, sorry if I came across a bit harsh, obviously yer a decent person who can handle critique. And I think I already/originally bashed Volde back in the day (2006 or 2007 or so) for having too many controls (and supposedly I'm the reason that filters can have more than 10 *cough* badly named *cough* controls, according to FF alumni ha-ha). Anyways, maybe you can update this one, and make it worthy of the EP status, or at least change it to your own updated expectations now. ![]() jffe Filter Forger |
