Thank You for Downloading my Advanced Sharpening Filter. I hope you find it useful.
Sharpening in RGB can cause colour artefacts. This is eliminated with this filter by sharpening only the lightness channel in Lab. The colour is untouched.
Another problem with sharpening is that normally everything in the image gets sharpened. Again this filter overcomes this by using an edge mask. Only the areas chosen with the mask will be sharpened.
Sharpening increases the contrast between light and dark areas. This can create light and dark halos. This filter provides two sharpening sliders so that the lights and darks can be controlled separately. In most cases the darks can be sharpened more than the lights.
How to Use.
Open an Image and zoom out to see the whole image.
Check the Edge / Image checkbox to see the sharpening mask
Adjust the top two sliders so that the edges to be sharpened are black. Everything that is white will not be sharpened.
Once you are happy with the mask then uncheck the Edge / Image checkbox to see the image again.
Zoom in to an important area of the image
Now adjust the light and dark sliders to sharpen.
Please use the ‘Show Original’ Checkbox to see the difference between before and after.
