Hi guys ! smile:)

Sorry to disturb all of you. I'm a newbie with FF, but my need was to find filters to creates vases. So, I see a lot here in this post that I love each one.

I have a new pc since a week. Before, with my old pc, it was impossible for me to download filters just by clicking them on the site. But with the obsolete manner, yes. And filters downloaded with thit manner, all filters downloaded was checked.
I had a vista.

Now, I have window 7. And I can download filters on the website directly. But filters that I have downloaded are not checked. It is impossible to remember whicth filter I have or have not. I do not want to download the same filter twice.

Sorry for my poor english, I'm a french Canadian, but I try my best to communicate with you.

My question is : where I insert those 2 filters in this post after download them ?

Can we find in the filters page more 3d shapes, that we can save with alpha channel ? I think to a cylinder, a pyramid, a box... There is a lot of spheres, but for these forms, not to much.

Thanks in advance for responding.

Ghislaine, welcome to FF! smile:) Are you trying to download the filters posted in this thread? If so, you need the Filter Forge 3.0 Beta. However, it is only a 30-day trial, so after a month, you cannot use them anymore.

Once you have the 3.0 Beta, the filters should open automatically when you download them. If not, go to Users > (your name) > AppData > Roaming > Filter Forge 3 > My Filters and insert the filters there. When you open Filter Forge, click on the "My Filters" category and find them there.

There aren't many 3d shape filters like these ones because they were difficult to make in FF and FF2. Shapes are much easier to make in FF3, but FF3 is only in beta right now, so no one is allowed to submit filters with it to the online library.

Hello Indigo Ray.

It's nice to you for responding me, and thanks for the welcome.

I have FF2 and FF3 beta. With Vista, I had AppData - Roaming, etc, but not with Window 7. FF2 and 3 are just placed in Program Files (x86).

I hope that the FF3, after all beta tests, will give us chance to have more possibility for the alpha channel on images and more 3d shapes.

Thanks and have a nice Sunday. smile:)

As Indigo said these were difficult shapes to make in version 1 and 2 of FF...Although there are some around the library such as these created by Threedee..

well, i hadnt planned to log in here today, but while carousing the forums i saw the 3d stuff and being a good little fan, i put on the glasses... it was worth it smile:) those really stand out! i wasnt expecting the 3d treatment on this filter, but glad you chose it. this rocks! it's interesting to put the mouse cursor over the vases. the cursor looks like it's inside them smile:) nicely done, chuck! you'll have to send me a copy of this one or post it or wait till beta3 is done and post it to the library.

Thanks for your kind words smile:)

I already have these filters. I have also difficulty to understand how to create filters in the filter editor. So for now, I do not use the filter editor. Most of the time, I run FF as a standalone. I have created a glass with the filter named Halloween... (image 1) but no possibility to get this glass with alpha/channel with FF. So, I had to run another soft to get my glass with transparency (image 2).

It would be wonderful to be able to save our creations with transparency IN FF.

Sorry, the images do not want to appear. I do not know why. How do you do for that smile:?:

It all depends on the way the filter was created by its author....There are some filters that can be edited to support transparency but some are a little bit more difficult and need more modifications then just whats in this thread.....

At the bottom of the editor when posting there is a place where you can attach a file to the post....Size of the file must be 250k...Jpeg and Pngs will show up as I and others posted.....I try to stay away from linking images in case they original every gets taken down it will break the link on this site and it will not show up.....

Updated with the FF 3.03.... smile;) smile:D

I click on the botton and I choose the image in my pc (no linking), but a window say : "Provide your message". So I write few words and when I click on the preview botton, nothing, so I click on "Post reply", and nothing. My 2 files are less than 150 ko.

Click where the button says "Browse" then it will open up a dialog box then you can choose what file to upload....It should show up on the fourm as long as its in the right format...ie..jpeg, png.....
You can only post one image at a time per post...

Hmmm..Thats weird...If you are on windows I am sure osx also that you should be able to select the image then choose open.....Then at the editor for this fourm you should see where its says.."Attach a file" it will read where that file is located on your hard drive.....Then choose Preview and it should show if it is in the right format....

Hi CF and thanks for taking care of my difficulty.

1. I wrote few words
2. I click on browze botton at the right of "attach a file" and choose the image
3. nothing is shown to click "open"
4. so when I click on the preview, sure no image appears

It was so easy with my last pc.

I do not understand why I cannot upload files on this forum.

Did you ever get this worked out and does it happen on other fourms?....Don't know what browser you are using but on some other sites I experienced my dialog box hiding behind the browsers window.....So I actually had to minimize the browsers window to see it... smile:|

Yes.......... !!!!!! It is ok !

The first image is my glass that I passed by another soft for the alpha channel.
The second glass (if we can see the image) is the one with FF2 without alpha.

What I did it is to forget the preview botton and click on post reply. I try the same thing with the second one. But in these two cases, I did not see any dialog box.

Good use, I think too, but now, just need customers to buy it.

OK, the reason I wrote in this topic is to be able to save my work with FF in alpha without having to use another soft. But I beleive that is depending of the filter creator. I read somewhere in this forum that people needs to save in alpha. It would be fine if FF create a module or a component for that, in the case that filters's creators do not add this component when they create theirs filters.

Thanks guys ! smile;)

There is an alpha component...When the filters author creates the filter it is up to them to add in this function...Here is that thread and scroll down to the middle for my replies.. smile;) smile:)
Automatically adding that to a filter without the authors intervention would ruin the filter...Since it would not know what to automatically mask out... smile;) smile:)
