I tend to use Filter Forge for more artistic purposes not just processing images. So far, I used it in several exhibits and also for inspiration for new art works. (FF renders just looks great when printed huge.)

I thought it'd be interesting if I shared some works where I used FilterForge, and some ideas about where I'm headed with them.

To begin with, here's a personal filter that generates minimalist, blue prints of some city scape. It's a poster / t-shirt design smile;)

Note that these images are actually 6000X4000 pixels for printing purposes.

And yes... variations variations variations.... I love Generative / Procedural art.

Prior to FilterForge, I used Artmatic which was a Mac program similar to Filter Forge, only comes with an extensive component library (seriously, like 400+ mathematical components.) Artmatic was a completely new, radical tool for image creation during the time of its release. Because the components were mathematical it also allowed sound synthesis based on nodes. And yes, I made music using it. Unfortunately, it simply did not have the freedom similar to what Filter Forge could do.

Oh well, I still use it when I feel like it.

i'm curious, skybase, why you need such large files (6000 x 4000) for printing purposes. are you doing billboards or something?

Kraellin,

The more data I have to work with, the better my end result will be. Obviously the bigger quality (bigger amounts of data), the more I can work with and therefore I render huge qualities no matter what. It's basically multi-purpose archival / reference work. I just can't work with something like 2000X900 and be satisfied.

Furthermore, because FF allows huge sizes, I think its still worth rendering huge images anyway.
