ok, this one started out as a joke on steviej. i was going to do a monster tone filter and post it here in the forums just to tease him a bit on all his color tone filters. but the joke turned out to be on me, since i ended up liking the filter
i dont know if anyone else will see this or not, but i just kept thinking 'van gogh' on this one. it's sort of a watercolor, impressionist, van gogh. ![]() If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

The last pic is really nice....kind of a textured solar emboss. I like how the color pops from the neutral. I don't hink that I've ever seen anything like this before.....quite unique!!!

Very cool Tone Trash filter, Kraellin. I haven't explored what it actually does yet, but the "art" found inside (using the Filter Editor) is a masterpiece!!!

welcome to the dark side? i invented the dark side thanks, ssamm. 'art' found inside (using the filter editor)'? you mean all the interesting looking curves? If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

I was mainly talking about all the numerous components and connection lines. I think there's a lot of unexplored potential for filter art here...

lol. now that would be funny, a filter that simulates the look of lines and components in the editor

well, it doesnt have the nice paint strokes of a van gogh, but it did remind me of it, somewhat. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

Craig, I was thinking that you could narrow it down to another filter for just the type of effects on that last flower pic. I like it more and more every time I look at it

			steve,

yes, i could and i even thought of doing that at one point. but the problem with doing that, at least in the way i work, is that i'd then have 20 different filters for each effect that that one filter produces. and whereas sometimes it is better to single out a given effect to a single filter, these are all so related to each other that it doesnt quite work for me. the different effects are not different enough, to me, that i'd want to break this up. it's sort of all the same effect but within a range of similarity that keeps a certain consistency and thus, again, to me, integrity in having them all in one. so, in this particular case, the 'less is better' is not in having fewer controls, but in having fewer filters. but, there's certainly no reason you couldnt break them down any old way you wanted for yourself. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

Very true!!! I was just thinking of the effect on the last flower pic.....which I think really stands out.....but hey, that's just one questionable opinion from a questionable person

			Craig, I love this filter!

Here's some delphiniums, workflow opened flower image in Photoshop and duplicated background ran Tone Trash (3rd last preset) on layer 1 then did quick levels adjustment turned the view off of the tone trash layer (layer 1) selected highlights of the background and pasted to layer 2 over the tone trash layer and set the blend mode to overlay. and turned layer 1's view back on. Done! quick and easy!!! ![]() Sherry |

oh, i like that, sherry! very impressionist.

and i figured you might be the one to appreciate this filter more than anyone else. so, i'm glad you like it and frankly, i'm often somewhat embarrassed by how easy filter forge makes some of this stuff. i console myself by making the filter making take a long time If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

Wow! I love this filter, it has so much potential to make ordinary photos look like extraordinary artwork! I could imagine this being extremely handy for use in backgrounds in my anime artwork, since although backgrounds in anime are usually quite detailed and photo-realistic, it's sort of an unwritten rule that they can't be actual photographs ^_^ Very nice!
