This is a sneak peek; was loaded to the Gallery this morning.
Especially want to show this to StevieJ since he is a Photo-Buff. To all I was surprised when I searched the Gallery that there was no Acid Wash for photos. I believe Auto FX has a similar rendering in one of their 300.00 filters and wanted to see if I couldn't make one. Holding my breath to see if it passes by Stevie... He knows his photography. The photo is one I took of a Cosmos flower from my yard last year. And this is what I have in the About area for the filter: Grey scales the outer edges of an image and sets two acid wash tones. Filter includes 18 Presets. There is an option to remove the blue acid tone. Persidio P.S. To Stevie, I'm open to and Acid Wash 2 if you have any preferences on how you'd like to see the wash. ![]() |

I think that this is an excellent idea to pursue into other versions. This is similar, but very different in alot of ways to Dilla's torn parchment/paper edge filter......which I believe is "the" most downloaded filter in the library....
I would suggest giving the user a full range of controls with these types of filters..... Nice Work!!! ![]() Steve

Personally, I would like to see the outside edge color more seemlessly blend into the image colors.....so there is no discernable color line. Could be done different ways on separate filters.....one version faded with blur.....and another faded with particles from noise distortion (like my "Disintegrator" filter).....or could actually use a combination of both.....which I think would look pretty cool..... I really like this!!! ![]() Steve

Hi Stevie,
It is a very different filter from Dillas. True. ((Didn't think about it till you mentioned it and now I'm looking at it with a tilted head))((That's a big compliment- WOW)) I'm still not seeing the similarities - but I like the compliment. First it's an acid wash that can be applied to photos- Dilla's is a straight texture that can be applied on a white background to produce results. This filter produces nothing if put on a white background. It has to have a predetermined texture or photo to work with. Which makes it a versatile photo filter that can be used for many other projects. Both are different filters- although ... This filter on top of Dilla's would be very nice. In fact I might do that in some projects. See now you got me thinking of projects. The greyed out area for the photo is part of the acid wash- now Auto FX uses blue and white for their wash like I have here (FX is the filter it reminds me of) This filter started out as a blue dream mist filter and sat for awhile- then last night I decided to make it an acid wash for photos because I already had the blue tones. If you apply a double application of of Acid Wash onto a texture it will produce some very nice results- and on the second outer application the blue can be removed. I highly reccomend two applications for non photo projects.
(((((TY)))))) I thought about more controls- will rethink that. I don't know if it's my style to flood the filter with so many options that one has to scroll down to the seamless tile check box. *g* It's okay that others do it- just not my style. But will think about adding a few more options for Acid Wash 2. Thanks so much Stevie for taking a look. Persidio ![]() |

Bear in mind I'm not making fancy graphics just quick examples... so the graphics aren't that great. JMO
Now the texture in this one is my scrapbooking filter - not part of the Acid Wash Fitler. ((Kyoto Color works great when playing with these too)). Didn't spend alot of time on the graphics- just quickies. ![]() |

Hi Stevie,
Didn't see that second post till now.
Gotcha~
Ohhhhh, I like. Yea. See I knew you'd be the one to ask because of your photo experience. Now I see where I need to take this on version 2. It's going to take a while though to tweak it just right. Your a life saver- TY. Persidio |

Oh, sorry, I should have explained my Dilla filter comparison better.....I was trying to point out that people seem to really like those types of rough edge effects.....
![]() The frame effects above are excellent!!! I got thrown off by what I thought you were trying to do with the flower pics.....and didn't realize that you "wanted" an inside edge.....me bad ![]() I can already tell that you are quite a worker!!! ![]() ![]() Steve

LOL Yes, inside edge with grey scale on the actual edge.
15 filters (Acid Wash and Black Hills Gold are not showing in the Gallery, but that will make 17- they are loaded just not showing yet.) in 18 days- with 12 days left. LOL ![]() Hey forgot to tell you but your Avatar is very very nice~ Solar Storm right? Or Aurora Borealis? Persidio |

Glad to help ![]()
actually, for something like the flower, blending the inside edge into the image in different ways might make for some unique framing effects. I was also thinking that depleting the image instead of greyscale might be a cool effect as well....
If I may make a humble suggestion to help you get a free copy ![]() ![]() I also think that FF would be more likely to grant a request to extend use of the program if it appears that someone really cares about improving and maintaining their existing filters. Dilla and Uber are good examples of this.....they are always updating and improving their existing work.....and serious users take notice of these efforts..... Just a little inside info tip from the "black sheep" of the family ![]() ![]() Steve

Hi Steve,
I have been listening to your filter suggestions and made a great acid wash for the entire image. Called Acid Wash 2. Working on a filter right now then will start on the photo edge acid wash------> Love your suggestions. ![]() Now about my filters, LOL. Don't be quick to assume they are not quality. *grin* I'll stand by the quality of each filter; understand your concern but want to assure you each is tested and made with care. I'm not trying to get a whole bunch up just to get filters up; it just so happens I'm pouring myself into filters right now and I do know enough about filters and graphics to sculpt them in the time I am doing. About Updates: I've already added updates and have more planned as each filter does get maintained. I know your only concerned as a friend and wanted to reassure you each filter is getting 'loved'. I stayed up till 3 am last night making a filter and gotta tell you... darn nice filter. And not a thing further I want to do to it (it's on the way to the Gallerys now and cant' wait for you to see it). All my filters do not go up until they are 'done'. Unless one catches me off guard like the diamonds one did----> only wants to work on solid background with a certain hex number. I wouldn't change that one either because the filter draws from the base colors to make the diamonds. Without the base colors the diamonds are not as clear and crisp. Because the only way FF will make them is to pull from the reflection of those colors. ((Cut them out and load them as stamps or tubes and they work great for that)). Bear in mind I have a decade of graphics and filter experience so I do know what I'm doing when it comes to that----> maybe that's why I'm quick. Now with that said some of them take a long time as I have more then one filter going at the same time. (((Don't we all)) And I won't load it till I think it's ready. Now I am adding more controls--- like the one I stayed up till 3am to work on--- but they are standard controls. My style will never be to put alot of needless controls in the settings area to look smart; the filter itself looks smart and the controls I put in will always be to a minimum that are necessary and easy to use for the end user. I like to filter to speak for itself. LOL about the Black Sheep of the family!~ Me too ![]() Not too worried about the free copy because my filters are good. When a filter is done it's done. Then it's loved some more when it's updated; as mine are updated if it needs an update. ((((Your a good friend Steve)))). But don't worry; the quality is good. Promise. And wait till you see the one from last night. (((Will it take till Monday to show in the Gallery?))) Persidio P.s. If you mean the acid wash on this one... I wanted this look--- the acid wash has to be semi rough- as it's eating into the image. I like your suggestions but the current look I'll stand by the quality. It's a great filter. I'm asking for your suggestions on number 2 (and this one) because I like your input. If you ever feel a filter of mind is not quality please do let me know which filter because each and every one is made with love and care before going to the Gallery. (((( And yes you are VERY helpful))). In fact when doing the Acid Wash versions I refer back to this thread and reread. TY!~ Good ideas ![]() ![]() http://www.filterforge.com/filters/ca...page1.html (These are the first two filters I made (Scrapbooking Paper and Groovy----> they have stayed at the top of this category; Diamonds Maker is mine, but it's new so don't know if it will stay near the top). Quality baby!~ LOL I'll stand by the quality~ On all of them. And I think I'm beating you in one of them... ROFL. Can't remember what filter... but won't post that one. (((Hugs?)) |

Oh you want to see some sliders on that bad boy filter~! LOL
I love this filter. Pure Genius~ LOL ((toot toot)) ![]() No no offense taken. I'll email my thoughts on it for you if you want- have them saved to notepad and ready to send. Metallic Emboss is great for fonts... Attaching one. And this is a graphic those beginning to make graphics could do with just clicking and no sliders. Simple tutorial for the attached image: One application of 'Industrial Paint Powder Coat' filter (one click on a preset), then one application of 'Metallic Emboss' (one click on a preset). And last a varnish of 'Lab Enhance by Ron Viers' (one click on a preset). The font is Britannic Bold. Add a shadow and done. Layering filters with one click for beginners is a fantastic place for them to start with filters. And the beginner can have fun and stay in a user friendly setting. I wasn't going to make a version 2 for this filter but will most certainly think about a version two now that I know one is wanted. And I'll give it tons of sliders with some kind of twist (would be fun to make). I'd like the orginal version to stay simple for beginners of course while they learn layering filters. [Easier to learn this with one click for filter applications for them.] And keeps the application quick for advanced users who just want to get the rendering in their paint program so that they can do their thing. I do take requests and will most certainly consider tons of sliders for a version 2. I'm honored~ Anytime you have a request on a filter.. always let me know. Metallic Emboss Attached. Jean ![]() |

You can tell when I'm not making filters because my graphics get more attention and also I have more time to post a quick tutorial or two.
Here is another one for beginners with Metallic Emboss. It matters more to me that beginners can use it then if it is popular. Just makes my heart feel good if beginners can enjoy it. Same font. Same white solid background. Use hex color #9EAAB1 for the font. Then a click application of Metallic Emboss filter presets. One application (again one click on a preset) on of my other filters called 'Acrylic Paint Texturizer'. And one application (click for variation) of Lab Enhance by Ron Viers. And of course a simple basic shadow. It's handy little filter with tons of different variations. ![]() Jean P.S. Just click on the above image or this one to get a closer look. ![]() |

LOL I understand~ My time is coming where I will need to pull back some as well. I've been giving my mother and family a break from email the last week or so. Which has meant I have time to spend in the forum (and I stay in the User Gallery Forum only for the most part----> and plan on commenting on my friends fantastic filters later today). Trying to quit smoking~! (((You should have mentioned that~ *grin))) Hey my turn is coming. Stupidest thing I ever did was to start smoking at at 31. It's not like me to do something like that----> especially with a decade of distance running prior to that turning point. Peer presure to smoke from an Ex-Husband (got rid of him but got stuck with the cigerette habit)... and also there is a phase when someone turns 30 that makes a person more open to things they've never done... all in all the worst 'life' choice I've ever made. Got rid of Ex-Hubby though and have had the new and improved hubby for 10 years. ![]() LOL So I do make some very good choices for the most part. LOL I need to stop smoking too~ And when I do I might get a ... little cranky. If you are stopping the cig habit--- don't worry you won't lose me as a friend no matter how cranky ya' get!~ ![]() The Gym... yep... used to spend time there too. (Ran, taught Aerobics and lifted free weights for a decade-------> prior to 31 when I started smoking). About Metallic Emboss... if you look at the 'about' area for the filter... it does clearly state for 'Beginners to click and have fun'. It also stats that advanced users will have to go into the interal organs of the filter to make any changes. Which tells you this: The lack of sliders was done 'on purpose'. (((Beginners can't mess it up))) and they get a clean application as well as being very easy for them to use. I put so much work into this filter that I wanted to make sure it would apply correctly for beginners (so I made sure they didn't have sliders, LOL). Metallic Version 2 will be a version for 'advanced' users and have tons of sliders. I think I have 23 filters now ------> my bad for not listing the downloads for each one (would take up too much space in the post)... let's just say the downloaders on FF have been very very nice to me. ((((To the lurkers... thank you!!!)))) If there is anything I can do Steve just let me know. Also I saw a commerical and can't remember the name for it but there is a new perscription drug you can ask your doctor that is supossed to help with cravings. Not a patch, not gum. I think it starts with a 'C'... not sure. Jean |

LOL~ You know I've actually worried about how many personal relationships I would lose if I stopped smoking. *grin* That's why I wanted to let you know... I understand and don't worry about it.
LOL--------------------------> That's a good thing! It's a great filter. But you are right... I need to make one for the advanced. Very glad you mentioned it. The whole misunderstanding is my fault~ Because I should have taken the time to list the filters with their downloads and not just mention a lot of filters. (I was in a hurry to get back to the filters... my bad.) I don't put up or make shoddy filters... each one is carefully crafted with painstaking effort. However... I am fast, smart and know what I'm doing. LOL (((Remember a decade of making graphics and filters does have it's perks))). One of those perks is you can download FF and know what the components mean and what is good for application use. Just a ton of experience is all----> new to FF but not to graphics and filters. Okay... here is the hillarious break down. Don't fall off your chair now. *grin* ![]() 22 Days on FF. 8 Days left to go.
