Yup, FF is great for 3D, even if it's just some boring spheres getting spiced up with some displacement and textures. Renders were done with 3dsmax/Vray, the slapdash way.

I'll update this thread whenever new spherical render madness gets posted, so we have it all safely hospitalized here... smile;) smile:D

still very cool, dilla. partially from creating the texturized sphere from FF filters and partially from the whole lighting, real world effect there. they look so real that i keep thinking, 'boy, wish i had one of those as a paperweight or bookend or just to display in a glass display case.' smile:)

The thing is, this is so embarassingly easy with VRay, I won't even mention it. smile:D

ok, i looked up vray and based on what i could see there at their site, i couldnt really tell what their software is for. is it primarily a lighting/environment thing? you've mentioned before using vray and 3ds max. so, do you use max for the building of things and vray for the lighting?

Yes, if you will.

VRay is an alternative RENDERER that can completely replace the default scanline renderer that comes with 3dsmax. There are many independent rendering engines out there for all the major 3d applications, and with 3dsmax, VRay is definitely my favorite, mainly for its ease of use, speed and outstanding quality.

Im rather curious how a perspective filter that uses a height map would look for instance infinite swirl or infinite mirror in one senese it may not even look right..Just a thought
