Been working on a series of filters based on the hexagon setting of the kaleidoscope. Trying various noise types as the deformation for a gradient.
Anyway... here are a few samples:
(perlin)
(techno)
(stones)
(pyramids)
(chaffs)
(cells)
(blocks)

Thanks everyone
I'm really rather torn on what to do with these filters. I love some of the results, but there are 21 user controls on each of them!
Essentially, there are two copies of the same noise used: one controls the actual deformation of the surface, and the other produces an optional overlay of colors. The scale, stretch, etc... of the two are linked, so the overlay will fit the deformation... but the roughness, contrast, and colors are independent for each one, to allow for a great deal of variation.
I thought about including controls for the offset and shape-size within the kaleidoscope component, but that would add 3 more controls to each one, and give even less consistent results with the randomizer. (Hmm... I suppose I could limit the range of those controls...) Okicyapo

Ya know...since you seem to have very distinct looks from the different noise types. maybe you should break this down into several different filters, rather than bogging down one with all the options.
It is easier in some cases to go through your library to find the style you want, rather than haveing to tweek too many controls.
Just my 2¢
I really like alot of these...and i would download all the different filters.

These are actually from 7 different filters, all basically the same, except for the noise type used.
Glad you like them though!

Finally submitted the first of this series, "Hex-D-Form: perlin". Here are some samples...
default:
preset 2:
preset 6:
preset 8:
(The last 2 are about as opposite as it gets: preset 6 is very smooth, and strictly black and white, while preset 8 has a high roughness setting, with a lot of added color in the overlay.)

that last gold one really has a realistic quality, like metal/jewelry/ornamental metal... very nicely done! If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!
