ok, this one is still very rough. i'm also still debating the name. there are some possible improvements i could do, like, fill the background (the background on this one is actually transparent but due to .jpg saving you cant see that). i could also change the black lines to other colors and vary the pattern.

notice the outer frame here and how the lines seem to join the outer frame. that is on purpose. i wanted the lines to look connected to the frame.

so, mostly i'm curious if anyone thinks this is worth anything and worth continueing on with. if not, i'll probably just drop it and move on to something else. am also curious if anyone has any other ideas for it.

thanks, steve smile:)

but, you know me, after i change it about 24 times i may be semi-happy with it. lol.

and, on that note, here's a variation without the image, just a texture. i've given the filter the ability to do either, plus have transparent or opaque backgrounds.

well, i'm having so much fun with the pattern that i may just drop the image from the thing. might have to add some color too, but that's for later.

That last one is really cool......kinda like it's mapped onto balls.....wondering how it would look on actual 3D balls like this without the external image.....

yeah, this is a weird filter for patterns. i kinda like it too. dont know about the 3d aspect. might warp it pretty badly in 3d, something curved applied to something else curved...might screw it all up. but, i dont know beans about 3d, so maybe it would look cool.

i've been playing around with the patterns so much, that the image part is being neglected. i do like how the lines sort of weld to the image but as a background for images i'd say it's not the best. so, i dont know where it's going to go at this point.

I think that last one could also be a textured pattern on your drape filter.......alien drapes smile:devil: LOL......

lol. i'll think about it smile:) it sort of reminds me of one of those wooden puzzles where a block of wood was cut into many pieces that when put back together made a puzzle of the block.

Yeah, that thick line edge..... I kinda like how it is taking on the form of balls with the edges curving into and disappearing into the dark areas......which reminds me of the 3D folds on your drapes......excellent concept.....

Slap it on your drapes to see how it looks......or maybe colorize it and turn it into stained glass......the thick lines would make for good relief soldered edges, eh??? smile:devil:

soldered edges? you mean like with a soldering iron? not sure i see that there. cant see using it with the drapes either. stained glass is an interesting idea. thick lines in relief also good. or maybe incuse them.

not sure. remember, this is just one effect of a pattern filter that wasnt even supposed to be able to do this smile;) so, i'd have to somehow isolate that pattern and develop it.

but, the whole effect rising from or sinking into the black does make for some possibilities there.

Exactly.....isolate the thick black lines.....then slap someting simple like my "MetalShop" filter/snippet on it for the raised solder edges from the glass.....
