Took a break from the frames for a moment and started messing with an idea that I had for a walkway of sorts while playing quake4...I found it at a store for 6bucks...Had to get it... smile:)

I am going to fill up the texture with as much detail as possible and still keep it as fast as possible..Its at the very early stage but any thoughts on what type of walkway would suit this texture would be appreciated..... smile;) smile:)

i'm assuming this is a top-down view and that the deeper browns on the sides are more or less rails and that the diamond pattern in th middle is the actual walkway. but i'm a little unsure of what you're asking for in 'type of walkway'. are you asking what the texture shld be called or if there shld be a different texture or for what use would this walkway be put? you might also consider bridges here. as to the flavor you have posted, it hints of eastern european or western asian to me.

I like the sides a lot, the diamonds are o.k., but if you can get more *depth* on the side bits, it'll look better regardless of what it is or is supposed to look like. smile:p

Dark metal grid where the pattern runs diagonally (at 45 degree angle), bolted to I-beams. smile8)

Connection details would make it look more convincing. Pretty much everything which is built (and metal things in particular) is made up of pieces, and those pieces have little connection details. For example; joints where one part ends and another begins, trim details where a third material separates two parts, bolts and mechanical connections, stuff like that.

In your walkway texture above, I'd agree w/ ThreeDee that some connection bolts to the metal parts would look good. Tile patterns sometimes have an edge around them, where they meet the wall. For example:

Also, it looks like your diagonal tiles stick up and down alternatively. Sometimes you see that on walls, but typically flooring tiles don't do that: just the grout (the joints between them) stick down. Here's a closeup of some grouted tiles:

CFandM are you going to post that filter as the sides look that they would make excellent re-bar materials?

@aegean Eventually I am going to post it when I am done but as of late I have been really busy with other things so no FF for me for the moment.. smile:(
Hopefully the next week or so I can get back to it.. smile:)
