So because all the cool people have topics where they show off their cool stuff, I decided I wanted to be cool too. Hello !

Here is a filter which I submitted earlier today (should arrive in the filter gallery tomorrow, I hope !). It makes planets ! Big ones, small ones, glossy ones, shiny ones, flat ones, hilly ones, cratery ones, well - pretty much any telluric planet you might think of. I have a lot of ideas on how to improve it, but sadly I'm only equipped with Filter Forge 1. |

These are just lovely, very stylised!! They sort of remind me of the planets from Spore (like http://ideonexus.com/wp-content/uploa...ace01.jpg) but much prettier

Thanks ! Actually, Spore (while a crappy game in itself) is a huge inspiration for me. Check out the concept-art ! http://www.christianlorenzscheurer.co...index.html

A lot of my game projects revolve around planets and galaxies, so I tend to make a lot of drawings and filter with that theme... Also : it's up ! |

Anyone up for some wasabi peas ?

Meh... not so good-looking. I'm trying to work out ways of making the mountains actually distort the shape of the planets. We could also get neat asteroids with that ! |

Well, I tried. Real 3D bump in Filter Forge has always been a bit of a holy grail to me.

The depth effect I added looks kind of out of synch with the actual terrain, and I'm not sure why. I also get really weird distortions at higher 3Dness levels. Fun times ! |

Well, I'm definitely having synching problems, it's like the planet's texture only fits loosely to the terrain. Still, it looks rather nifty if I keep the 3D to a low level.

(also this filter renders pretty fast without anti-aliasing, even with the 3D added, so I'm having a lot of fun animating these) |
