yes, i also considered getting it after you posted about it, but i realized i havent really even explored photoshop yet, so it would seem a bit premature to buy yet another smile:)

It is worth the price. Meaning I bought it last year before I got a free copy doh! Probably give the free one to my sister or give it to someone that would use it. Has some pretty cool features, you can pick different paper types to draw on, bumped to smooth, has a range of painting tools, just depends what you want from software. Here is the link to the web site I got my orig copy from http://www.artrage.com/ has more info on that site.

artrage is a good painter program. i've had the cut version for a while now and mostly use it for the palette knife function/brush. very cool brush. the cut version is free, but it doesnt have all the features. i do things like this with it:

thanks, carl.

yes, that's what i like about it, too. if done right, you can get it piled up just like a palette knife had pushed it smile:)

i've not seen any plugins for it. it might. i wouldnt really know, though. i'm guessing no. it, if i remember correctly, is also not a plugin itself. i use it in stand-alone only, so i think it's not a plugin. but, i dont use it a lot, so maybe someone else can answer more definitively.

I'd try the free version except I find it frustrating and irratating when the best goodies are locked smile;)

yes, i understand. for me, the palette knife is the best goodie, so, i'm not too frustrated smile:) i may well buy the thing. the interface is a little different from most programs i've used for art, but it's still pretty intuitive. i didnt have to read hardly anything; i just dived in and started using it.

and, if you dont like artrage, there are other painter programs out there, including the daddy, Corel's Painter. you can also look at Akvis. they have some good stuff. i won 'Akvis Artwork' and it's pretty good, too. and there's a ton of plugins out there, some of which do art features and effects. try plugnpixel's site for a start. he's got links to all sorts of things.
