1 and 2 are my fav's~ They ROCK!!!
Number 3 works... and I like it... Number 4 works because of the electro magnetic look of it... which is what they blame on appariations and such... I would use 3 and 4... I just LUV 1 and 2... all good! and obviously luv all the samples... LOL So this is the filter you've got cooking. It's a keeper! Luvs it!!! ![]() |

![]() well, it's evolving. i've got an image or two i want to post showing more examples, but i'm going to have to get permission on that one first. i've also got another whole feature i'm thinking of adding to this, but have to perfect it first and then see how it looks in this. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

![]() yup, that was the idea with this one. i didnt want a normal fog, where the perlin is just overlaying everything. i wanted the image to pop out of the fog and blend into it somewhat. but i also wanted to control how much. and i wanted colors in the fog. i've currently got one little bug i'd like to iron out and it shld be ready. i can already iron it out with one control in the existing filter, but i'm trying to see if i can get it more foolproof so that it doesnt have to be ironed out with a control. and for heaven's sake, go look at your artgloss thread. been dying to hear your comments on what i did to it ![]() If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

![]() i've added in one more control since the above image. this will enable more of the image or less of the image to come through. this one has me a bit perplexed, though, on whether to re-map some of the controls. i think i'd prefer to leave them un-mapped, but randomization could produce some very undesireable results if i do. i'll figure it out ![]() If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

this is producing some unexpected, but very nice results on images i wouldnt have normally thought to try with this filter. i started this filter with the idea of it being used on people, portraitures, but the inanimate objects are giving some very nice results.

thanks, steve. i like that one too.
the reason this is taking so long to release at this point is, as i test the filter on new images, i keep finding out something new and so, tweak things a little more. your vase and flowers showed up a thing to me just so. as a result, i'm running it through more images to see if i can get a final, stable set of results. i've also been re-naming a few controls to try to make things easier to understand. ![]() as the filter library continues to grow, with no real end in sight, i'm beginning to change my policy on filters and how many effects to put in one filter. i'm beginning to feel it might be better to have 1000 filters with 10 different effects, than 10,000 different filters with one effect. so, i probably wont separate anything out here. in fact, i'm actually adding more legs to this one, putting them on a switch. this started yesterday as an experiment with some of the blending on this filter, but i'm beginning to like it and thinking of keeping it. i dont really need the HU's from 10 different filters, so why not just put it all in one? i also find for my own use that having one filter i can go to instead of 10 is a lot easier on me, but that could just be because i know the filter having made it myself. for new users especially, it makes a lot of sense to do single effects but multiple filters. get those HU's. but, i've always been the king of multi-filters and multiple effects in one filter and i think i'm just going to go back to that more and more now. i could probably get 50 separate filters out of 'the monster' with no problem, but then i'd have to be able to find each of those and swap one to the other when i wanted a change. i like that 'the monster' just has presets you move through instead of filters ![]() oh, wow, that just gave me an idea. actually, it's an old idea but has a new purpose now. what better way to organize a slew of filters than to simply combine 20 or 30 of them into one multi-filter! lol. i'm gonna be the death of vladimir yet ![]() ![]() If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

yup, exactly like that. by putting separate filters into one filter and just using a switch, you dont increase the render time of any given filter and could then group all similar filters into one filter.
and btw, where did you write that? i dont ever recall seeing that before. but yes, that's exactly what i'm talking about in the 2nd part of my last post. in the first part of my last post, i'm simply talking about bigger filters with more variety in them instead of trying to make 20 filters with little variety in them. there are a lot of advantages doing things this way. for instance, and this isnt to make you wrong for how you did this, but i could probably take 10 of your filters and combine them all into one filter with 10 different looks. there are pros and cons each way and we've debated that endlessly. but, with the library growing and growing like it is, it's starting to weigh more in the direction of putting many effects into one filter rather than splitting each effect off into its own filter. so, that's what i'm moving back to with ghost rider. lol, it's suddenly grown in scope and effects ![]() If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!
