3 It's kind of steampunk, or something. I'd like to make it more inter-weaving.

It has 3 layers, plus 3 shadows. It uses Sphinxmorpher's trick for making uniform strokes using High Pass.

This is a spherical distortion instead of 'dilla's noise distortion. Makes great hubcaps!

Here's a planet test. This uses a photograph (of the louisiana swamps from the air) and distorts it into a planet. The shadow is added in Pshop. Note the water reflectivity and the very slight amount of bump to the land.

Same filter applied to a 'gas giant' texture, of my own devising.

Thanks. Wasn't planning on submitting it, but maybe. It's, a junkyard, 'ya know. The Techy noise is annoyingly slow. The pipes were sort of an experiment. I think it all needs work, honestly, and to get them to be submission-friendly I'd have to spend some time with them.

The planets are for a work project, and because the FF EULA flap freaks out our legal guy, I can't submit anything which would show up in-game. For the same reason, everything which would show up in-game, I must build myself. smile:?: Maybe I'll submit the non-final versions.

Here's the unstable weave mod. Called it 'Tin Samurai' b/c it looks like a metal version of the samurai crests to me.

I should probably have put that in quotes... He's our guy who A) knows the most about copyright B) has to power to tell the rest of us what's what. It's not as if he plays golf all day and smokes cigars in a big wood paneled office wearing a top hat. smile;)

With a little bit of tweaking you could turn your rock fracture filter into a planet surface filter.:

Here it is with just the standard FF image. It has a nice flagstone kind of effect. Note how the smaller stones get rounder, and the larger stones are sharper.

Very cool -- yes, we need some selection-based lettering filters for sure. Sorely missing and lots of potential for all kinds of wild stuff.

Ok, you talked me into it. I'll submit it.
I messed around with it for a while after I posted the above pics - adding different noise types, etc to make a more brick-like version. I think I like the one above better.

It uses not one, but 3 (!) blurs <smacks forehead>... I can't figure out a way around it, b/c I need the blurs to have different radii.

I don't know about your actual construction, but maybe you can somehow blur the first blur and that way get a third extra blurred result.. sounds blurry? it is smile:D

Corvus, usually there is a learning curve to filter creation. Why are you so special that you can just skip the months of crappy filter creation and move straight to Awesome filters? smile;) smile:D

Keep up the awesome work, your filters are a breath of fresh air!

Aw, shucks ... Thanks! smile:beer: I'm guess I'm just curious.

FF is an amazingly useful tool. Lately I've been using FF more than photoshop - which is really saying something. Now I can just put into filters all those complicated multi-step processes I'd normally would do by hand. smile:loveff: Glad you're enjoying my stuff!

Here's another thing I've been messing with: I was trying to find a way to take an arbitrary heightmap, like some letters, and 'bling' them out with metal ornament of similar shape to the originating shape.

Came up with this, which runs the shape through kaliedoscope, and then makes that into little bits of metal bling.

Another shape: check out how the bling is all symmetrical around the outer circle.

It seems to do better with curvy shapes, but here you can see how the shape matches the shape of the letters.
