Hi xirjia,

your images are always mesmerizing to look at. I wonder how many fabrics that are out there have been printed with FF designs smile;)
I had planned once to try erosion effects in FF too, but I never found the passion/time to do that. Do you have a filter snippet where you share your insigts of this erosion technique?

All the best,
raabix

smile:) , FF is the best toolset I know of for creating procedural surface designs for sure. The erosion process did take a lot of time to get polished, and for the mean time, all I have shared are some hints here. Still polishing, reworking, and synthesizing. smile:beer:

smile:) , the beveling was done in substance designer, but in the FF erosion step there is no scale component. I do need to figure out new creative ways to use the scale component though, it might be interesting. Three years ago I was convinced the scale component was the way to erosion smile:| :

but now, not so much:

Just found a couple great examples of what that erosion form from the previous page is like:

The Painted Hills in Oregon

arial video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3O6_erWQois

Clay hills is how they are described, so I suppose this is one of the softest materials to erode.

Very nice works.

Looking at your posts I probably got a basic idea of what components you used.

Your beautiful pictures made me feel to try too. Ha! Ha! smile;)

smile8) Trying is what its all about.

Regarding that last 2 color combo, I think there is something extra special about it. It's not pure cyan and magenta, but a cyan with reduced brightness. Then rotating the color palette to get pure cyan in place of pure magenta another striking combo. I kept playing with different possibilities and these two stood out as VERY optically active for some reason. smile:?: Must do some research. There might be a portal to another dimension here. smile:fairy:

Ok, I've been trying to figure this out and genuinely feel stuck. So you're using an iterative dilate process to generate the erosion effect?

Rrroger. But actually dilate is the reverse of erosion. See how the bright areas are expanded in dilation and compressed in erosion:

http://reference.wolfram.com/language...ation.html
http://reference.wolfram.com/language/ref/Erosion.html

I think FF could slightly modify the Percentile Component ( to make it more Gaussian? ) and have a viable erosion/dilation system.

That you're stuck is a great compliment. smile:)
