I just want to point out how awesome some of your designs are, Rachel! And thank you for sharing all of the filters you submit to the library, they're fun to play with.

(oops, I made a new page - guys check out the previous pages!)

Yes, you are right, the one I made is bad and wrong, and did it briefly

Here is mine, with code to fill the gaps and fully tiled. I will probably extend and release this at some point. FF 9 only.

THANKS VERY MUCH for showing yours

OH!!!! You are using the Wallpapers groups tiling to make this one in a similar way with a triangle seed, cool and well done, clever and lovely. It looks great and fills the gaps seamlessly

RECURSIVE PENTAGON TILING

I have taken your filter and expanded it so it can be tiled much more

I have put the option to have the 1 Pentagon original as you have shown here above on the screenshots, AND have added the recursive option of the pentagon flakes (pentaflakes) and as shown on the second screenshot at right

So now have the option of making flakes or full pentagons with groups of 6, 36 or 216 pentagons or to have the full screen filled with tiling

There are 50 Presets I have made

There seems to be something wrong on the 216 version as the result is a multi star instead of a pentagon, but I do not know what is the problem.

Thanks for your help and congratulations for creating things in such good way

The filter uploaded by Rachel only is able to do the Pentagon with 6 Pentagon as shown here above, and with my filter modification of previous post you can do the pentaflake shown here below

Funny, my version in the submit queue uses recursion also and does 6-36-216. But mine is much slower, uses the loop etc etc. The one you adapted had a couple of minor bugs in it, but I may try to adapt it and update the filter once it is released if I can make the submitted version faster.

Turns out that the cropping pentagon between each phase makes it run a lot faster. Thanks for the effort SpaceRay, it will allow me to update a faster filter. Now I'm adding the 1296 pentagon option too.

Also thanks Indigo Ray smile:-)

Yes, is possible that may be slower as Vladimir G already told that sometimes for low iterations it could be better to use the unrolled version instead and would be faster

Sorry that it was not correctly done as I did it as I could and may have missed something that made it wrong, but you are clever and expert to spot and fix them

Happy that it was useful to you and that my version is much faster, great. Lovely and awesome that you can make now a 1296 version!!

Looking for other examples of Koch snowflakes fractals in Google images I have seen this that is made with triangles and looks cool

As one of the problems of these fractals is that when it becomes giant the source pentagon or based shape becomes much smaller, so is interesting to see this one with triangles that makes this kind of pattern

NEW ADDITIONAL ALTERNATIVE USING TWO COLORS

The above triangles example gave the idea that as you already have included a triangle as seed for the pentagon and you are making each part of the 5 pentagon triangles with 2 triangles, it can be possible to use 2 colors instead of only one and be able to use two texture seeds instead of one

Of course this is not at all a replacement for what you have already made using the same seed for all the triangles of the pentagon, is only an alternative additional way

I have changed the source with two color controls, added a flip to the second one, and have made that the seed is now seen with the two triangles

The problem is that now your solution to fill the gaps does not work as well as before

Here is the filter I have made and have added some presets with possible variations with colors and images, and even now you could choose not to show half of the triangles of the pentagon

Yep, a much explored fractal. The colors are nice. My take on it this was to do a packing, which creates a unique color pattern. Thanks again for the examples.

Now for something different. This has precedents, for example Top Secret by ThreeDee, and also Shredder by Quasimondo . I was feeling guilty doing this but... all 3 of us have approsched the problem of "flowing" strips in a completely different way. So there it is.

Messing around with another "might" release it, might not... this one has too many controls and the code is a spiders nest.

Well, if you have a different way then it is good and great, so then what is your own way? are you going to submit your own version?

I really like much the shredder filter by ThreeDee that is really cool and realistic, and also the one from Quasimondo

From the image shown it looks like it is also very good and well done your own version

I thought that creating a true Gosper Island was not possible using polygons. I was wrong... here is a prototype example. Wobbly symmetry, the island rotates 15 degrees each iteration.

This seems to be cool and intereresting and make a unique and unusual mandelbrot that is able to use a custom source image palette

It depends on how are distributed the source colors

The source colors is a hack... but it seems to work. I use the input image directly as a "color gradient". 2 offset tools to recenter the image (x & y color tune) allow different areas of the image colors to be used. Here's an example of a fractal using the kingfisher 4 times with different image offset values, which changes the colors around a bit.

If you are able to use your own source color, I think that one possible idea is make different ones from a zoomed parts of the fractal an put them on squares together to make a final work

I do not mean to make this idea as a filter, I mean to make 9 different results with different source colors and cut a square of it, amd then join them as seen here outside of FF, although making a filter that could this already in FF would be cool but maybe too complex

I'll probably put the Mandelbrot filter out after some more tinkering. I like the idea of the art wall a lot, might end up being a filter with some restrictions, perhaps figuring out some way to deal with different aspect ratios. I'll let it rattle around in my brain for a bit.
