The latest in circle technology smile:-) This is not exactly like the sample provided, there is actually more detail in mine, I suspect they are doing some cropping in the circle with centers outside the main circle, but to figure that out is beyond me.

If you like it, I will proceed with options: line width, color options, format options (like removing some circles for a sparse result).

Wow, is awesome how you have taken the basic sierpinski triangle and have been able to make a unique and different variation that looks amazing and well done, this is creativity ideas and have the great skills to make them possible.

Thanks very much for taking my simple suggestion of using sierpinski triangles fractal and converting it into somehing special and different

Oh!!! Wow! Is amazing how you have been able to replicate and make an even better and more detailed version of the example I have put, I did not know that this could be done using just circles, great and well done

Rachel found some damn secret it seems.
Well, even if dude will still keep it in secret, or will show it later, i really already now glad to see that this is possible to make in FF, and inspired by that fact and satisfy by program anticipatorily.
This kind of things makes it worth paying for an upgrades.

Thanks SpaceRay and ceramix4!! The circles filter will be released, probably in the next week. I am going to rewrite it, right now it has too many "kludges" in it. SpaceRay wants to see it, so I am attaching it... just know that this thing is a bit of a hack, some recursion, but also some weird code at the end to make it work.

For FF9 and above only. Best at 1500x1500 or larger due to thin lines.

Thanks really very much for uploading it, and I have seen it inside, and I have to say that you have made an amazing work, this is something similar of what I had thought to do, but I was wrong in the way to do it, did not know that it could be done with simple circles, and you have surely done a perfect work to make that exact match of all those amount of circles in such great way combinated beautifully and exactly, congratulations

I wonder if these "Photons" is made using the crystals version or is another different version? If I had to guess I would bet, that is really a different version, so I want to ask if you are going also sometime in the future when you can and want, will you release it?

And what is the background made of? Is this also part of the filter? Are these the "photons"?

ceramix4 and SpaceRay you are welcome. The "photons" background is the G'Mic plugin in GIMP under Rendering / Neon Lights. Here it is again with a modified Forge-o-scope and Sierpinsky Crystals.

Thanks for explaining, I thought that the background was "weird" in the way that this is not something usual for FF, and I was right as it is from Gimp.

Good that this example has been done in Sierpinsky Crystals and is not another filter

I am still impressed and amazed and admire much how you have done lately as:
Sierpinski Crystals
, the Circular Reasoning,
and all the flake filters like hexaflake, koch crystal and snowflake and gosper island and the similar ones
and all the geometric flowers filters
that are really awesome and unique and I can not thank you enough for making them.

cool and nice idea to make this kind of tiling

this also remembers me to what uberzev have done in this thread

Escher Lizards

Also seeing your example, and sorry that I know that is not at all similar, but the shape of the birds used, looks to be similar in some possible way, I mean the ones that are at the bottom of the image.

Hey Erica, you've got an eye for these things smile;-)

SpaceRay, thanks for your kind remarks. The tie dye is a very nice filter for creating color textures for many uses.

The Escher is a recent discovery for me, I always loved his work, but didn't know the math/procedure behind it. This link I am providing is a high school class in Escher in pdf form. Everyone should have a teacher this cool in high school.

Document: M.C. Escher and Tessellation

The example of Escher from uberzev is a hexagonal tile with a template, the one I did is a square tile with 2 Bezier curves. So... the filter is not easy to control without access to the curve shapes. So I've been experimenting with other curves. No luck so far. I also need to look into the other shapes you can do Escher stuff with: hexagons and triangles look promising.

I have always loved Escher too and admire his work much, but never could find HOW he did all these IRREGULAR tesselations and now thanks to your link it is clearly and easy explained how to do it starting on page 13, so I thanks you much for giving this link as it is very interesting to learn about this topic

Awesome stuff Rachel!

Those Pentaflowers are so versatile.

Here's one I used in combination with your Wallpaper series,
this is a one off custom design commission for a bedroom wallpaper.
The 2 primary colors had to be used, a flying bird had to be incorporated as well.
There were actually 5 rolls of this printed in China.

Thanks heaps for creating the driving force behind the design.

This may seem very interesting and great if this is what I think it really is.

Would you then be able to create the shapes that you are showing using the Curve Editor ?

Like for example in the Octadraw by ThreeDee?

Here's a snapshot inside the filter editor. Across X there are 11 evenly spaced control points from 0 to 1. Each point has a "height" and a curve type (to the next point). So what you see here is the group that does it and the user has control.

Oh, you are making them, more complex and combined in different way, cool and interesting, well done

I wonder if instead of using plain colors or gradients, it could be possible maybe to use images too mapped to the gradient or the color, only if possible, I do not know

Wow, Rachel!

You have been busy with these wonderful explorations!
I am in awe of what you come up with...
Also wondering what SpaceRay was asking about using existing images or shapes,
although I can see lots of scope to alter the existing tessallations as they appear.

Anyway, it is all totally interesting, I'm already cheekily looking forward to using this filter one day, thanks to your wonderful brain & generosity smile:-)

I am also a great fan of Escher. I went to high school in the town where he started out (Haarlem - Netherlands). As you once mentioned to me, you have Dutch ties too smile:-)

Rachel, there is a beautiful book by Doris Schattschneider called 'Visions of Symmetry'. It's an analysis and explanation of the work of Escher. A great book, that I now will start to read again (between my studying Paul Klee smile:-)

I don't have the time to be on the forum too often, but I always appreciate your input. Excellent work which helps me a lot.

Thanks, Beat
