Thanks SpaceRay. The only issue I might have: does anyone know if there is a limit on the number of controls in a released filter? In one of the square tessellations there are 32 control points, each point has 2 controls, so the total is over 70 with the other controls.

Later today I'm going to look at using images in some way. Just the hex version at first, to see if a way to tile using variable "stretch" scaling and apply that to a edge altered triangles. What fun!

Erica, my dad (RIP) instilled in me a desire to learn and understand how things work: engineering is in my DNA. So I try to keep learning new things, it keeps me going. And since programming was my career, Filter Forge has kept that part alive as well. You are so kind!

Beat, thanks for your comments. I will definitely look into the book, I'm guessing it might cost a bit... like the high school connection across the pond. I like Klee as well. He sure made some stuff from odd materials... poor archivists nightmare.

Here's another hex tessellation with gradients.

Here is a tessellation using an image (tile seed) and color inversion for the contrast. I will provide this as an option... it often doesn't look like much, getting enough contrast is the trick.

Hi Rachel,

You never cease to inspire me!
I suddenly recognized the structure of the face of my cat (sitting in front of me)
after I looked at your (already perfect) creation...

What can I say? Amazing, I love cat art as it is, this is great. Hey I can let you download the full resolution version if you want. Many cats (including my Kiko) have the equilateral triangle around the eyes to the chin as the point. Lion King indeed.

Thanks heaps Rachel.

I just made this one for you, it was kind of on a whim when I recognized that triangular dimension could be adapted to the cats' face.
The original one is yours, already perfect like I mentioned, and I would not want to use
your images in my work. Thank you though.
Looking forward to see what you'll be creating next...

I like where you are going with the lightning Rachel. I've been wanting to write a lightning filter myself because none of the existing filters forks in a convincing enough way. I've been putting some thought into how to get it to fork in a random fashion somewhat like a tree root by creating a series of layers which each consist of one strand of light together with one side of the layer filled in with black, the other side transparent. What I haven't figured out yet is how to avoid crossing strands.

The lightning project is on hold for the moment. My approach in part is using L-Systems. Noise is important in my version, I have to give that some more thought and refinement. Today I was visiting an old friend software wise...

Thanks SpaceRay!!! Fun to make, I took my time since it is a CPU hog... figured out ways to speed it up.

Also took a look at this:

Playing around, here are some prototypes of just 1 layer, the final filter will be multi-layered.

OH!! these are very good and interesting, and like the triangular lines and like it much. I suposse and think that may be very difficult to make the square ones mixed too.

Hi DJI, seeing that cactus I searched FF filters for "Fibonacci" And there are a few filters that use the Fibonacci/spiral or sequence.

I have seen cactus and succulents before with this kind of symmetry. Mine is not done using the Fibonacci method but... Swirl Flower gets a similar effect depending on the setting. It starts with a petal at 50% size and goes up to 100%. Each petal is a fixed angle from each other, which is configurable. Blah, blah, blah... I'll have to check out truman's to see how he did the Fib.
