just an odd image from a filter that shld never have produced this

it's doubtful, carl, at least not as is. that was an offshoot of a nebula filter i was working on. with 3D's recent thread about nebula, i pulled this out again to see where it stood. it stands not well

well, for #1, think coal. for #2, think lava fields. #3 could also be coal...not sure. and i kinda like #4, but not sure what to call it. #5 is kinda cool, but doesnt really look like rock that much... too shiny and glossy. and i like #6, too, but again, too 'wet' and glossy to be that realistic. and #7, i'd still like to cut the shine/gloss down.

quartz isnt perfected yet (by me, anyways), so that one may have to wait. what i've mostly been tweaking this filter towards is coal, lava and rock strata. they shld probably be three separate filters, but that can wait, also

ah, ok. yes, i had thought of that, but in 'coal' and 'lava' there really isnt very much variety... it's .... black.

You could put an external image behind it with multi-colored translucent tiles.....might look pretty cool too, eh???
