hehe, germs and rainforests... that's quite a range of options
![]() well, you dont see it in either of those two examples so much, but the depth on that filter is quite good. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

going back to basics again. i find that just taking two or three components and playing with them until you get something you like, and then expanding on that, tends to work fairly well. in doing that, i just came up with a cave and mud walls filter. here's one example:

now, that last one could be any number of things, including looking at a ceiling of a cave or something similar. but that's sort of what i started with and went from there to get more effects. i'll post some more later.

ah, i'm glad you like #1. i kinda do too and it has a slider for adding more depth to the boxes...sort of and for making more boxes. it's a weird little filter but produces a few interesting items

ya know, steve, somewhere back during the eula debates, i realized i was giving the milk away for free. so, i kinda quit. i havent completely, of course, but you'll notice i dont publish as many any more.
so, i'm just sitting here pumping out demos waiting for the flood of emails requesting my filters that are sure to come ![]() hehe, ok, maybe not. but, i am sort of seeing what folks respond to the most. i dont really think i'll publish this one, but i would consider sending it to you if you're interested. in return, you can send me that one you recently published in your thread, the colored glass one ![]() If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

That's why I was pushing for FF to further their incentives program with texture storefronts by which to undercut and diffuse the texture resellers.....and give authors the ability to take full advantage of their own work, while at the same time, be totally beneficial to FF by expanding the reward incentives to keep skilled authors producing here.....get more and better quality texture filters.....and get alot of authors to "set up shop" here instead of taking their skills somewhere else to make money..... ![]() Personally, I never submitted any texture filters because of the reseller issue.....I want to help FF, but not the resellers who will make a quick and easy buck off of them without any return to me or benefit to FF..... FF has to know how they are perfectly set up to do something like this.....but I guess it comes down to a lack of resources by which Mac and V2 take precedence..... Steve

here's a mod i did of one of vladimir's filters. his is a very simple filter, "polygon painting". i simply expanded it a bit.

i kind of like this one. it's another underwater filter, but it's not so much about the water as it is about what's there under the water. bear in mind here, that you're looking as if you are under the water, not on top looking down through.
now, i could probably add a little perlin distortion here to add a touch more realism, but i wanted to show this first version first ![]() ![]() If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

ah, good. glad ya like it
![]() and yes, good idea on the treetops. i can also see an explosion cloud (of smoke) looking at it from the top down or a pyroclastic flow (that flow that races down a volcano's sides when it blows its top). but, i didnt go any of those directions. lol. i went...boy, not even sure what to call this, but here: ![]() If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

nasa released some new photos today. you can get them on the nasa.gov site. these were taken by that probe that took the pictures of the moons of neptune some months back and that same probe continued out to the remote reaches of the solar system, all the way to that belt of asteroids where pluto orbits.
this particular photo is of a new, 10th planet, larger than pluto and, in fact, larger than mars, but smaller than earth. it is a rock planet similar to earth and mars and has WATER(!) in a non-frozen state! you can see from the blue in the image that this certainly looks to be the case. but, scientists could only speculate how a planet that far from the sun could have water in a liquid state and on the surface. it seemed VERY unlikely, yet, there it is. some were speculating that there must be massive volcanic activity, keeping the water in a liquid state, but they werent prepared to speculate further, nor did they mention whether they thought there could be life on the planet. or, that maybe there could be life, but not in any complex form, since most plant life and higher, more complex forms, rely not only water, but sunlight to survive. and since the sunlight out that far is so dim, they didnt think it would be possible for anything over a macro-biotic form. kinda cool, huh? oh, and the other amazing thing is, that this is a complete lie. the image is actually from a new filter i made. the story is completely fabricated and i'm just having some imaginative fun ![]() ![]() If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!
