Well when i went to submit my filters to the library i got error messages because i did not have any components in some of my filters, thats what i mean.

Maybe that was a message "No control components"? I guess we should reword it as "A filter must have at least one Control component".

I thought I'd play too...

Here's my version of the Rose using a filter I made called "Image Illusions". I've never posted a photo before so hopefully this goes well.

Here's an image I submitted last week for an image challenge using "Image Illusions" for both the foreground and background creatures. The lighting effects were also made using Filter Forge. It's a bit of a work in progress...

Hi All,
I'm working on a filter called Mosaic; I like the results but I don't know if it would be useful to anyone else.
It puts a mosaic-like grid over the picture and changes the colors of the image in the individual squares. The grid can be small or large, white through black. Here's an example:

bongo,
Thanks for the comments on Color Sketch. I have sent in an update with more controls. Update has contrast, brightness, hue and saturation options. Here is an example of an original and a
Color Sketch.

very cool, donna smile:) you going to even out the width of those lines?

photoman, very nice!

ok, i got an email from northernshadow suggesting that we could maybe combine all the base images into one and use that for a test image. so, if anyone cares to do so, feel free.

and, i also decided to colorize donna's picture. so, now we've got a comparison black and white and a color of the same image.

Photoman, Color Sketch is a nice effect but it doesn't look like colored pencils to me, it looks more like a combination of pen & ink and watercolors, which is just as useful and attractive. I think the problem is the smoothness of the face and hair; it should have that grainy effect seen in the background on the left side of the photo, although not that pronounced...more subtle. Very nice anyway.

Craig, If the lines were even, it wouldn't look like a mosaic. If you look at a real mosaic, the 'mortar' between the pieces that make up the picture is very uneven.

Nice job on the colorization!

Donna,
Is this more the effect you want to see. Color Sketch and soft grain added in Photoshop. You can create a more grainy effect by adjusting the controls on the filter. Each image responds a little differently.

Yeah, that looks more like a colored pencil sketch. You can get that result with the controls in your filter? Cool! Submit that puppy!
I still like the pen & ink/watercolor aspect of it too.
Way to go!

Hi all,

I'm late to the party because I'm a Mac user and have tried various tricks to get Filter Forge working on Apple hardware. Virtual PC didn't work, and initially using an Intel iMac with Parallels workstation didn't either--but today it suddenly did! I also have an old iPaq PC, but FF needs more beef than that...

So I downloaded a bunch of filters (great job, everyone!) and came up with some nice effects (original at top, followed by Mosaic rocks, Tri-color, Peeling paint and Plasta wrap). Click image to enlarge.

The effects look fantastic at the original file size (4mp digital images).

bongo, that's pretty convincing.

Here are some more to add to the list. The top two are from RotateDistort. The one to the left and below is from BrickArt and the one next to that is AbstractMelt.

Ok, I just submitted the filter which generated the above results. It's called
"Infraredder_landscape".

If anyone manages to use it to create convincing infrared landscapes, I'd love to see the results.

thanks!

Bongo51: real cool I have to check that one out.

Kraellin: Makes me wish I could print on foil at work.
I could try to wrap the screen around a gift but that won't work.
As far as control limits I have been lucky until now. Most of the filters that I had made did not need more than the limit. Still working on this one. Old Cloth Art
