![]() yeah, i'm always lurking and teasing somewhere ![]() #5 is the one that intrigues me the most. it's like the pattern of the flower is there intact, but that somehow all the color has been sort of stripped, altered and moved. i'll have to look and see how i did that. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

foxxee, the original pic was finally released as 'the original monster's monster' and it's in the library. it's a bit disappointing in its current incarnation as it's pretty much a 'one shot wonder'. it does almost nothing but that one image.
however, i might be able to upgrade it so that it could vary that effect a bit more. not familiar with 'green man' paintings. got a link? oh wait, you mean like these?: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_Man gunsan, no, these arent from monster spawn of any version thereof. this is from the original filter that the monster spawn filters 'spawned' from. 'the monster' itself has never been released, but i take snippets from it and release those. 'the monster' is, in fact, still a work in progress and may never be released... dont know. i use 'the monster' as an idea generator. it's huge. when i zoom out in the editor i cant even encompass it all. all of these last 15 images were from various routines in 'the monster'. i basically was 'in a mood' last night and just wanted to share some pieces, maybe get a little feedback and see which ones you all liked and then, maybe, do some more 'spawn' filters based on the ones you all liked. oh, and foxxee, i just did a little fiddling with 'the original monster's monster'. i put my color range extraction routine in it on one leg to produce more control over effect on the portrait. see what you think. ![]() If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

I like it Kraellin! Can you vary the size of the rooty looking vines that are crawling over her, and color change anything maybe? Yes, that's the Green Man. Wiki is the way to go when you might be in doubt ![]() ~Foxxee~

Isn't there a possibility to release something similar to nr 7. Looks so exciting to me.
A snippet or something??? |

and gunsan, part of the reason i posted those was to find out which ones you guys liked so that i could release another 'spawn' or two. so, if you like nr 7, then yes, i'll do that one up as a 'spawn' filter (having basically just that effect). heck, i may just release them all as 'spawns' ![]() If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

gunsan, i turned nr 7 into its own filter. look for it in the library come monday. the name is 'monster spawn 8c'. i added a couple extras, like a blur and the ability to blend with the original image. hope you like it

foxxee, i'm having some success with this revision of the original monster's monster. still a ways to go, but thought i'd show you one image.
original photography by dana lane, http://www.flickr.com/photos/dalphoto...120184539/ and used with his permission. this is the original of one of those on his web site that i cropped and did a little lighting on. ![]() If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

I'm looking forward to seeing #7 come out Monday too, Kraellin! Have you made one for #4? That very slight and subtle kaleidescope effect is really nice too
![]() Glad you've decided to work on this one, can't wait for it... but please, take your time ![]() I was just wondering, when looking at the filter sample here, might you be able to return that look to it that seems to follow her contours? It would look more like it's growing over her rather than just texturing her. The first example in this thread appeared this way to me, unless my eyes are deceiving me. It's sort of that effect Carl had with his Shadow and Light filter (which I also want to incorporate into my shadow filters too ![]() ~Foxxee~

i think that look is still in there, foxxee. it's one of the things i'm trying to make sure of while i warp this thing sideways a few dozen times. the trick has been to try to get more of her showing without losing too much of the other. i can distort the original pretty easily, but i've been trying to do it in such a way that you see a few more of her facial features. and that last image post was sort of another venture into possibilities.
but, i will keep your wants in mind here, since that's also kind of what i've been after too all this time. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

You are very cool, and I thank you for even just considering anything I might try to suggest or hope for. Thank you kindly ![]() Yes, that's exactly what I think too, having her show or peek through parts of it as if not yet being completely taken over by this monstrosity of a "whatever-it-is" organism ![]() You know what this filter reminds me of, and I loved his work, is H.R. i like that last one because it looks like the effect is doing what you wanted, covering over her instead of texturing her and it even gives a bit of an effect that it's putting pressure on her head/face as it does it.

ok, no pressure. i could submit as is and always do another update later on if you dont like or if you want something else in it.
but, it's still got something odd going on that i dont like. still trying to tame it. i have learned another method of controlling the effect, but still not completely happy with it overall. it's fussy as the dickens and that usually means i'm missing something. ![]() If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

ok, i submitted this as an update. it WILL overwrite the previous version in your folders.
i also didnt rename the controls. this was done on the basis and that experienced users and filter creators will be more familiar with the FF names than with mine. new users will just have to learn ![]() there are new controls to alter the effect. chiefly these are the alpha invert and threshold controls. there is now a wider range of possible effects, but, they more follow that original picture than the original filter did. so, things shld be better. it's still a pretty wild filter. i've gotten some effects that were just not very good. so, this one will take practice to get what you really want. use the presets as guides. hitting 'next variant' i take no responsibility for. for all i know it may blow something up and most certainly will break the original idea of the filter. so, use at your own whim. i also dont know much about what hitting the 'size' slider will do. use it, dont; i just didnt make this with that in mind. so, it too may well break what you're after. i also didnt test this on a wide variety of images like i normally do. for all i know it may only work well on the one image ![]() but, with all that said, the filter can produce some pretty cool effects. so, have fun. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

lol. this one cracked me up when i saw it. sometimes you just dont know what you're going to get. this is from 'the monster' and i didnt even remember doing anything like this in there. i cant figure out if it's a 'pig face' or a badly warped 'star wars empire' helmet
