I want to start this thread to show examples of this awesome and amazing filter and so this does not clutter the tutorial thread shown here below
In the following thread you can have this filter and the information given Spherical 3D Displacement Previewer by ThreeDee I have used as source on all 3 image sources a colored striped image Using preset 1 and changing settings of Height blur to 3 and Extrusion to 3 got this ![]() |

This examples above ARE NOT how you should use this filter I will put here below REAL examples and using it with the real maps saved from your choosen filter
This is using the saved maps from the Crysta by Vladimir Golovin filter ![]() |

And now using one of my much loved filters from Skybase that is Crystals by Skybase
I got this And as you can see this fast too, at least at 600 x 600 (have not tried yet at higher resolution) ![]() |

YES, I also hope that others show also what can be done with AND THIS THREAD IS OPEN TO EVERYONE THAT WANTS TO PUT EXAMPLES OF THIS AMAZING FILTER HERE IS FREE TO DO IT TOO! preset 1 and Extrusion 57, this one and the above here has the lightings changed to "diffuse only" ![]() |

One interesting thing I have found is that if you want to have a more complex and more detailed texture over the sphere you must make the bump, diffuse and specular with at least half of the "size pixels" settings in the original filter and so you can be able to make it better as seen here.
Compare the above pipes sphere with this one here Both have exactly the same settings in the ThreeDee filter and bothe uses the same preset and settings in the pipes filter, BUT the difference comes from making different source maps, only reducing the size pixel setting before making the maps ![]() |

Hey SpaceRay,
I like your examples! The Suburbia image reveals that the sphere is not actually exactly spherical -- got to do something about that. ![]() |

OH! I did not notice it first time, and now looking back to it again is true that is wrong. Well Here is the new Suburbia example with your NEW UPDATED AND WITH MORE FEATURES Spherical 3D Displacement Previewer by ThreeDee V 2.0 AND also is important for the effect to be right that the Maps are made SMALLER (not in resolution, I mean reducing "size pixels" setting before making the maps), and so the effect is shown much better. So this is with the new smaller suburbia maps and the new Version 2.0 ![]() |

I thought to try to make a test with this image below that ThreeDee have made very well and shown in Other Interesting Ideas
![]() and as it is made with black and white and gray shades I have loaded this into the 3 maps as source and got this beautiful chrome ball with cubes Extrusion 15 ![]() |

Now with NEW 2.0 version this is MUCH BETTER and can make much more things thanks to the ability to rotate and scale the texture maps !!!!
Here is one of the first examples above ![]() made with lovely Crystals by Skybase I have made the needed maps from this above render to be able to put them in this ThreeDee filter And this example below shows that now this filter from ThreeDee really shines and makes amazing and beautiful spherical renders Love much the new result made possible here thanks to reducing much the new texture scale setting and be able to get this beauty ![]() |

AND what would happen if you DO NOT use all the 3 maps ??
Well using the same settings and same maps as the Crysta example in previous post here, I replaced the Bump map of the Crysta filter with this image of a old compass that has a transparent background (although here is shown with white background) ![]() |
