A while back, I made a fairly simple digital drawing -- some green and yellow bars with a gradient -- to use in playing around with different filters. Last night and this morning I've been using it to make a picture with Sphinx's Acid Flux filter.
My first step was to save a copy of the image with the #6 preset, using all the default settings. Then I used that image and the #1 preset, adjusting Distortion Bias to 30 and Distortion Strength to 10 (all other settings remained the same.)
(I'm still more comfortable with Paint Shop Pro, so I did my follow-up work there.) I expanded both images by mirroring and flipping them. The design on the second 4x4 felt a little busy in some places and bare in others, and I'd completely lost the green from the original drawing, so I decided to layer parts of the first 4x4 onto the second one.
I'm happy with the result, especially because it's not just a picture that I ran through a filter "one-and-done." I like making images that can't be recreated just with the filters. Don't get me wrong -- I like the filters -- wouldn't be here if I didn't! But I prefer to use them as part of a means to an end, rather than the whole process.
I'd love to know what you think.

Old, but been playing with computer graphics since before you were born, Sonny! (wink)
