Here's an attempt at a simplifier, and yep, it's a really simple start. I'm still playing around with it... blend modes are producing some cool looks. It might be useful as a snippet?

That's the most complex simplifier I've ever seen. smile:D

I'm not sure what effect your aiming for exactly.

I looking to produce an effect more like Photoshops 'cutout' filter but with more control.

Cutout is a nifty effect, I'd never really messed with it before.

FF lacks the tools for performing that type of geometric cutout so your never going to be able to exactly match the Photoshop version, but I'm sure your spin on it will be great.

hi sherry,

what does the 'cutout' filter do in ps?

also, you've got a double blur in there that doesnt need to be there. you shld be able to branch off of just one and still do everything the same. (blurs tend to slow things down quite a bit).

not knowing what the cutout filter does, i'll just say that this seems to be a shading/lighting filter, which is always useful. reminds me of the shadows/midtones/highlights filter in psp.

Here's Cutout from Photoshop. It's nifty but has some issues, mainly terrible anti-aliasing.

This is 'Cutout' at the default setting.
yeah I know there's 2 blurs in there, I was experimenting with a high blur for one leg and a low blur for the other. smile;)

Thanks smile:) Never even thought of that! might have to work on the color leg for this to work smile:?:

it's kinda coming along, so far all that has stuck is some control changes and tweaking... and some presets.

I changed test images a few times along the way, just needed something with more subtle differences. Here's the one I've been using and some preset results.
