Kind of a flat-metal look, with flat relief swirls etc. No idea really, it might end being called just "Flat Metal", but that seems to lack description in a way. Anyways, a couple of 25% quality rendered examples below, yay, etc.

the 2nd one has a bit of a molten look. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

Yeah, usually I'm a decent filter namer, if only a short descriptive name, but this one just doesn't want to be named ha-ha. It looks alright on other pics, it's much like those old Toadies Photoshop freebee 2-D "metallic" style filters, and maybe a hair closer to the Amphisoft one, or a cross between it and the Toadies ones. It's nothing that amazing, but the liquid/melty layered look is kinda cool, so I'll probably finish it up this week or weekend and submit it. Thanks for looking all.

Thanks, *impulse* used to be my go-to for that stuff, but I started looking at other ones, and *wave* has more shaping controls.

Pic #1 uses it really well.....maybe due to lack of color. I've tried it with color and never looked good.....but yours looks great Steve

Thanks again. It's a pretty straight ahead filter overall, nothing amazing, but it has kind of a flat aluminum/metal look sometimes, and can go from smooth and spirally, to grainy and low-fi. I plan to work on it a hair more if I can without ruining what's already there, and finish it by next week.

No, I can't think of it.....
Well, the effect looks to be primarily frequency, high pass, and desaturation.....with no metal in the last one....so maybe "HighPassFrequency" ..... "WavePass" ..... "PosterPass" .... or maybe just plain "Frequency Effect I"
I'll post if I remember what the the name of this effect is called..... Steve

No High Pass or Desaturation (unless Threshold counts as desat), the Wave Curve module is used, as well at the frequency control on it though. I'm thinking "Post Modern Posterize", since it's somewhat like the posterize effect, but it's a bit more artsy fartsy, and it can be inverted (via threshold, waveshaping, etc.) to be grainy too. More flower teaser pics below.

Those last couple are cool...I really like the first one in this last set of images...
I could see using that for a background on a illustration... Stupid things happen to computers for stupid reasons at stupid times!

I simplified it just a hair inside, which made it twice as fast, added a *Darken - Lighten* control at the end of the chain to balance out the gamma effect, and named it "Post Modern Posterize", it has been submitted.

Yup, it does that
The best that I could come up with is probably "Frequency Art"
I like "Post Modern Posterize" Steve
