I loaded a filter this morning to the Gallery. Diamond Maker.

I went back to get a .jpg image of it in my paint program- (to post here) and used a solid white canvas.

No diamonds. None~ Not a single one.

In a panic I went in the filter and thought maybe I'd changed something before loading to the Gallery- and started changing things- but didn't save so that the file is in tact.

Then I pulled up the filter in the "stand alone version of FF" and the diamonds are there.

So pull up the filter in the stand alone version to see the diamonds. ((Refraction and light,,, yea I know)). Also just now seeing the typo on the filter name. So it just gets worse.

Do I update to add this problem in the description- the description will update right?

As you can see in the stand alone it makes some nice diamonds- had them larger last night but wanted fewer and smaller. But apparently they won't transfer on anything.

I don't know what to do. I know there are some genius types in this category and wanted to ask if you'all had any ideas.

The problem is that FF automatically tiles your preset images when submitted to the library. To avoid this, check the seemless tiling box to see what your presets will look like after submitted.....then uncheck and submit. You can submit with seemless tiling checked for each preset, but I prefer not to do it because it can be misleading and most users will start using the filter without it on.....

Hi StevieJ,

Not sure that will fix the problem for using on a white solid background----> checked or unchecked it's nothing but bars. No diamonds.

I hear you on the tiling check box. All in all I think I failed to test this one prior to uploading (I usually test and test).

Thanks for taking a look.

try this one. and with another little bit of trickery, you could isolate a single diamond.

Hi Guys~

Whew! Figured out the disappearing diamond problem.

For diamonds to appear the filter has to be applied on a solid background of a certain color.

Hex Color #9EB0E2

Now I'm still testing for similar Hex Values to get the best of the diamonds to come out- but it's in that range as that color so far is producing the best ones but not as good as they could be. I'll attach the filter applied to this background color.

When I get the best color ranges determined for background colors then I'll update that information in the Gallery Filter.

Hi Ya Kraellin~ Yep was doing single and bigger diamonds last night but didn't save it... so will go take a look at what you came up with. ((Kinda of a kewl concept you have to admit- Using the reflection capabilities of the program with the Frame and of course the right colors)).

Be Right Back, (Going to look at Kraellin's diamond smile:D )

Hi Ya Kraellin,

((( Good Thinking )))

Your's also did not work well on a white background- but at least yours showed. I placed them on the same HEX color that was working for the other diamonds and they also look much better.

Little bit of a border around them when the filter is applied. (((They look awesome before applying.

I have some ideas- My child will be home from school soon so I'll be back later. We have a whole routine we go thru when she comes home from school.

Thank you Kreallin- Your a Peach!!

P.S. Forgot- below is the HEX color I mentioned to showcase the diamonds.

LOL

smile:D Nope. Do I have to give them back now?

LOL

Check this out~ I moved my base from the diamonds to a clean sheet. Then put the second frame in and used your alpha channel idea. (Hope you don't mind).

A metal tooth frame appears. ((Okay a bit of fussing to get it but ... not much)).

On it's way to the Gallery.

absolutely! family heirlooms and all that.

ok, i like the 'dragon's teeth'. nice alteration and definitely a new frame look. only one criticism here; on some of the presets i noticed that one side or row was lit much better than the other. and since there's no other lighting indications within the filter/frame, that makes the unbalanced lighting/shading seem wrong on the teeth.

Hi Krellin,

LOL!~

Oh the teeth, I like the difference. smile:D ((I'm weird I know)). Honestly didn't attempt to correct it because it seemed more decorative this way. But you know I remember years and years ago a friend of mine saying that she noticed that I do tend to make one thing "off" and she asked if I do it on purpose ((she said she liked it and that she was just wondering)). I do... I do it on purpose. I consider it an art element. My personal sytle I guess. Maybe that's why I didn't try to correct the teeth. LOL.

Now I'm not saying I'm against harmony and balance in graphics - harmony and balance have to be there, and looking at the frame it does have enough balance to carry the art element with the teeth.

Your not the first one to say this to me though, ROFL. Even if there was a way- havn't looked- I don't think I would make the teeth mirror each other. Personal style and all.

Who knows- I might have to make a Metal Tooth 2. When I take this filter to the round settings- it's nice... was torn between this look and the other one.

This frame has a lightening difference but the texturing is different on the other side for the teeth as well. It'll grow on you Kraellin. BruuHahahha.

hehe

persidio, that's fine and yes, i'm aware of others doing this. and it actually is a quality of art at times; you (plural, generic here) throw the viewer off slightly with a little question mark and then bring them back in. it's like when you throw in an E-flat in a piece of music just to make the listener go, 'eh? what was that?'. they arent expecting it and it perks the interest at times.

Hi Ya Kraellin,

I added a few more presets at the bottom of the filter that I thought you might like. The reflection is fairly well mirrored in the newly added presets at the bottom of the preset list. I didn't want to upgrade the filter because I like the filter as it is... but I did want to give you a copy personally with the new presets at the bottom.

((((Glad you like))))

thank you, jean. i'm honored smile:)

i like those big framed ones. looks like some kind of industrial, diamond-tipped, rock eating machine or something. and, i think i'm liking more that each side is a bit different in the lighting now. it makes each diamond its own thing.

Yea it adds another texture doesn't it? Kinda grows on ya'. LOL

Just so that you know- I am going back to this filter because there is something I think I can make from it .. don't want to say what that is yet... but just looked and there isn't one in the Gallery. Not even sure I can do it yet... but... I want to go back and try.

Your a good man Kraellin~ smile:D

The trick to the metallic teeth in this filter lies with the color for the Gradients. I actually knew to use that color from oh gosh... the very first Blade Pro that came out by Flaming Pear. This was WAY before Super Blade Pro. Remember the old Blade Pro. Well... for gold and metals... USE some LIGHT BLUE in the color mix. *wink*

I just pulled on an old graphics trick when dealing with filters (Blade Pro in this case) to get the reflection and metal coloring on this filter. Now the gradient for this filter comes from my Diamonds Maker. Which obviuosly explains why I went to so much trouble to get the right colors for the gradient (have to have that light for reflective qualities). But also shows how the gradient can be used for other projects.

P.S. That gradient is colored perfectly for chrome and metals... and even the occasional diamond. If you want... you can copy and paste the gradient for new projects. I know I'll be going back to grab it in the future. It did take a bit to get the gradient colors just right- so no reason not to use it again, right? I wanted to let you know about it smile:) (((It's a good gradient color))).

LOL

That would be about right. 1997 to 1998 my first year in Graphics.

And of course jumped into plug-in filters in the same year.

Oh your Cork Filter is pure genius!~ The only reason I don't have it recommended as a compliment filter on the 'About' screen for the filter is because I was thinking 'photos' only... then other night discovered that the Cork worked well with it. I'll update with the new description info and more presets this weekend. (I add this on the filter information not only to promote friends filters but also because some filters go together- and it helps if the author of the filter takes some time to make reccomendations because they know their filter from creating and testing it.

Do updates take the same amount of time to load to the Gallery as presets do?

Psstt.. my graphics are not too great right now because all my computer time is going into filters (LOVE FF)... I really like the cork with that frame. I love all your filters though, LOL.
