Mouse paintings do use filters so I wanted to show you a couple so that 'if' you happen to create a filter for this use you'll have an easier time of recognizing the use for that filter. (((There are artists on the web who do mouse paint))).

I don't have a wacom tablet but have wanted one for years and something else always comes up. These are painted with a regular computer mouse by yours truely.

Time consuming, tedious and they take a very long time to paint.

Most of the work is done in 'Zoom' mode with a minimum magnification of 600--- sometimes even 1200 with lots of back and forth from actual view to zoom. Filters are used inbetween stages of painting depending on when the image needs it.

Filters take off noses ect... and I see I need to repaint the nose on my avatar.

The lips,,, yes I know-------> the filters did it but I like it because I'm not trying to get a realistic impression but I'm giving my artistic impression. It's art.

To lurkers-----> copyright images do not lift but do enjoy looking.

And please no one make fun of my mouse paintings unless you are prepared to mouse paint a better one in 2D. LOL These took a very long time to paint. Now it's been a few years since I made them... but I remember just how long they took.

Click to enlarge the first one. This first one is compressed and resized. The ones that follow are just compressed.

Jean

P.S. I've named all of them, LOL.

Filters greyed out her face... but I can fix that.

Well that's it. I do have more,,, but think this is a good amount to show in the forum.

Very cool Persidio..It had to be either PS, PSP or Painter...It just looks like it took a long time to create just one..
The one at the top looks to be a sad and haunting face..The second and third are both
fashionable of images...

The last I haven't decieded on..But I do like them all....
Stupid things happen to computers for stupid reasons at stupid times!

Hi CFandM,

Nope---> Ulead's PhotoImpact. Although I have used the others in the past. Any program mentioned could do it because you only need the most basic of tools and... plugins to smooth out or enhance when in house tools won't do.

Attaching a screen shot--> basic paint tools.

This type of painting is advanced (and when I say that I mean even among the advanced) and very hard to explain in a post. Lots of details,,, I will say most of the painting is done while in Zoom (magnification mode). The brushes are loaded with care and semi-transparency- blur, dodge, burn ... all are used. In fact they are really some of the best mouse paintings I've ever seen. (((Trick is to smooth and blend--- and get a transparency on the brush---> never paint with an opaque brush---> we all know what happens when we do that- argh)). Seriously though if anyone ever wants to try it I'll go into more detail (just trying to keep this sketchy and short for the post because it is very detailed with the brush techniques.

Now the filters smooth out the look but will also corrode parts of the look so then you have to go back and repaint---> but it's all painted with standard paint brushes. The filters I have been using in the past for this our Flaming Pear's Aetherize and Glare, so I'll be looking for those types of filters for this. But I'm not mouse painting at the moment just looking for the filters in advance. Thought I would mention this type of painting because others on the net mouse paint too. But now that I looked for links for you---> it's pretty rare. ((And that's why I do it--- because I can, LOL. But I need to get a wacom tablet one of these years.)) Anybody can do it---> but is very hard and time consuming. And I didn't attempt it till I had 5 years graphics experience. I couldn't figure it out before that. Then one day it just hit me. And I'm always glad to share what I know if anyone ever wants to try it.

Yes! She was a spin off another one I did that started the series (after the prototype which is image number 2). The reason why the face is spotlighted as an artist was to focus on a womans soul not the body. And a ghostly haunted image started the series off--------> you guessed it right. You should see the Plaster Cast images I made of these---- Ghostly! smile:D smile:D

There is a personal art statement that is a theme thru-out the paintings too long to go into here.

Well they are not really meant to be and I accidentally put the second one up because I'm tired and wasn't thinking. She is more of a prototype that I practiced on and not near as good as the others--- Plus she was filtered to death ---> the lips are bright because I went back in to paint them. I have her now with a butterfly between her eyes. Otherwise I really don't like that one. I wasn't thinking when I put it on here.

They are meant to be more serious then fashionable and beauty is part of them, but certainly not used to please. My mouse paintings are not a series aimed at pleasing men or what men want to see---> I made them from a woman's perspective. So I'm pretty sure men won't like they are not 'inviting'... yes,,, they are non expressive and ghostly-----------> You are good~ Nice eye~

Hope this wasn't too long~

And the Zoom in feature--- 600 is a standard size for me to work in--- sometimes though I do have to work in 1200 view.

Then I switch back and forth constantly to check the actual view of the painting.

Hope that helps explain some for lurkers smile:)

This is what 600 view looks like. As you can see it's well blended. I use the blur tool for that and blur by hand. Until it's just right. Each time you paint you may have to smooth with blur. It depends. Also rememeber if anyone tries this...

Semi-Transparent brush---> and you'll need to adjust the brush depending on what you are painting.

Anyway this is the standard view I paint the mouse paintings in. Switching endlessly back to actual view for checking.

Here is the first one after the prototype that started the series. (They are not sad btw,,, haunted,, but not sad.

As an artist I wanted to show in this one what sterotyping and hate does to the person it is targeted to...

With my Plaster Cast filter applied.

My voice as an artist for these ---> be nice to other people. smile:D And don't hate or hate because of jealousy or judge ... because this is what it does to the other person. I'm lucky I have wonderful people around me and a wonderful husband but others are not so lucky.

Click to view full size and remember it's just an artist statement.
