just submitted this one. a lot of folks were making pattern filters here lately, so i thought i'd jump in and steal some attention, if possible (the competition is getting rough out there smile;) ).

this one was one i just started playing with components to get any kind of inspiration from and lo and behold up came this one. it is named 'church' because the original and some subsequent patterns all reminded me of something one might find in a fancy church, floors in a nave, stained glass, or fancy, luxurious carpets. that theme can be pretty easily broken with variations and randomizing, so bear that in mind when using.

and, since this is a long weekend due to the holiday monday, i'm posting the filter here too.

oh, i'm not leaving, just letting back a bit. besides, this one was very easy to make. in fact, i've already made some upgrades smile:)

you might also be interested in adding some of your glass effects to some of these. i was thinking about that when making this one, especially when i started seeing a stained glass effect.

and i love that image you posted. very colorful and interesting pattern.

very cool, steve. love the crystalline look on both of those. and that 2nd one you've really toyed with the depth; also very cool. see, i knew it could use some mineral/glass smile:)

Actually, I haven't forgotten that you want some 3D glass like this for some pattern filters in another post. I'm be getting around to submitting those 3D types after I finish up with my current projects. Some of them are just like your "MONSTER" smile:devil: .....which can be combined with any other filter for a completely new glass effect.....

well, it's a good look. that whole quartz thing going on there is really quite good.

and filter combining... boy, there's a ton that could be combined. i was going through the photo distressing filters last night and found several that i liked but none that completely did what i wanted to do with an image.

and feel free to add one of your glass filters to 'church' and submit it. i think it would be cool. or, if you want to wait till i submit the update, that's cool too smile:)

I would combine and submit the ones that you would use.....because if you would find it useful, it's highly likely that others would too..... smile:)

Actually, I intend to give something like this to you in appreciation for being the "great grand daddy" of glass overlay effects with your "Glass Menagerie" filter smile:D LOL..... That filter has a permanent home on my computer smile:)

hehe, well, that's the trick, isnt it smile;) i'm a packrat. i used to go around on the internet looking for .8bf files and downloading any and all that i found. some actually made it into psp smile:D the point being, i never quite know what i'm going to need or use but i love having it all available. but, i could almost guarantee that i would use that one you did to produce those images above. that crystalline/quartz look on that filter really stands up!

and thanks, glass menagerie was one of my first real successes. i like it too. i never use it, but i like it smile:D

I'm rubber, and you're glue....whatever you say bounces off me and sticks to you!!! smile:-p LOL..... smile:)

Hehehe..... Don't get me going.....my mind is already about to explode smile;) smile:) lol...

Seriously, I think that the large scale noise with some noise distort and roughness would work well from pic #1 for "Glass Menagerie III" smile:)

well, it will be a while before i redo menagerie. but i just had to try for some colored glass, since it was one of the things i left out on II. the trouble is, the method i used to get that last image almost completely breaks everything else. lol. so, it would take quite a bit to get the full menagerie III up and running right.

yeah, large scale noise.... not sure what noise filter i used to get that one. i'll have to look again. i also added two more noise types to the array, but per the first paragraph here, i broke a lot of stuff and may have to throw a lot out again.

I was also thinking on the rectangular patterns for an option to make the panes bigger to a point where they meet looking like all recangular triangular-relief glass prisms....then add a spectral color sheen to get a true prismatic effect.....definitely unexplored territory that I think would look pretty cool.....which seems you have already started with that last pic....

No, making the panes into triangular prisms (line in the middle as the top edge) and expanding the panes to meet.....where the current clear brick aress become just a depression point in a 3D prism grid.....or the other way around.....turning the bricks into prisms. I've seen similar effects, but not in glass.....

Just imagine triangula prisms with that light spectal sheen all huddled together and you can see the refacted image through it.....either using the glass paines or the open brick area to create them.....think it would look cool, eh??? smile:)

you want long prisms set horizontally as the panes, with the two apexes at the top and bottom of the pane and the other in the back?

(((Kreallin))) It's georgous!

So glad to see your making filters after a nice break----------> Welcome back to filter land, LOL. Seriously amazing filter from the looks of the images Steve put up.

As you both know I've had to take a few days off making filters. I've had a personal matter to tend to and may be few more days.

Be back in a couple of days,

almost done with the upgrade. i definitely think this was the way to go on this filter, a simpler version first and now a more complex one. i've added back refraction and made a few other tweaks. i shld be able to submit it today after a bit more cleanup.

and here's another. both of these are with the refraction turned on. i've added the refraction under a switch so that you can turn it on and off. it significantly slows the filter down, but it's still not so slow as to be unusable.

well, it's the same filter, just upgraded with some extras, like putting refraction back in. this took a while to do because i had to re-study refraction to understand more about what it was doing and how it was doing it.

well, after submitting it and playing around with the images, i probably shld have split the two effects out, normal and refracted. but, seems sort of unnecessary now.
