this is my first snippet filter. it uses one filter to make cutouts in another. the snippet, as submitted only uses components to do this, so you'll have to plug your own filters into it to make a filter do cutouts on another filter. this is a pretty basic version and you might wish to expand it or do another whole version yourself.

i'm posting the filter here, since once again i seem to be posting on the weekend.

Just checked it out.....excellent!!! smile:)

I don't want your head to explode smile:D but couldn't you do "Monster" (smile:devil:) versions with this too.....prepping for masking and selection.....or incorporated to define selection smile:devil:

yeah, you've have to refine the masking to do that. but yes, probably could be done. the masking controls in this are only the offsets and threshold, so that's not a lot of control over where and what would get masked.

this was mostly the idea of using one effect to extract or mask parts of another but the masking is mostly done based on the one filter and not controls within the gui. so, it's kind of a hit and miss prospect.

myself, i'm not all that sure what i'll use it for, but it did strike me as interesting. you might also explore drop shadows with this one.
