I thought things were going okay with the main pond, first I lost the pump, then I also found out that the hoses to the biofilter were not good. So I was lucky to have and back up pump, had to bypass the biofilter till I can get new hoses, Then I had an short in the switch in the pump had to rewire that, now I have 2 leaks in the main filter, need to get an new pressure gauge and now waiting to get an email back from the manufacturer so I can order that parts. it seem like my poor pond is fallen apart, piece by piece.

As a fellow fish keeper.....having backups is a must. Your Kois can live without filtration in the worst of water, can't they??? Steve

I agree with you there Steve how important it is to have back ups. The koi are a tab bit picker about there water than what the blue gill and goldfish are.
The major worry that I have is that there will be another major algae outbreak, which I just got cleared up and the lack of oxygen in the water. Since the temperature here is in the high 90s to lower 100s.
Carl so far the fish are doing fine, the reason why I worry about them is that so far this year I lost 3 of my gold fish. Will be back to working on my filters this weekend. Expext an minni flood of my filters this monday

Yeah, I hate to loose fish too.....you get attached to them. I have two large Sevrin that actually like to be petted.....I stick a finger in, they come to the top, and they let me stroke them.....kinda cool behavior for a fish...... Steve

I think that is really cool that your Sevrin love to have thier head petted.
Its is going on my 3rd year having my Koi and Goldfish, I gotten them when they were only 3-4 inches big and boy have they grown I have serval that are around 2 fett long. Most of my gold fish are about 1 foot long. My blue Gills have grow so big also almost 8 inches in lengh. Yes it is very easy to get attached to fish.
I used to have an pet crayfish, that was so gentle with me, he used to take food from hand. His name was Baron Van Claw lol

My pond is an converted above ground pool, that is 18 feetx18feetx 4feet. The filteration system was changed to give the pool an more natural enviroment for the fish and entails alot more work that maintaining an pool. Wouldn't trade it to an pool.
Here is an photo of Baron Van Claw

Hi Steve~ Choices and changes... yep. I think the word 'Living Hell' fits... and I'm not cursing just using the word in it's describitve manner, ...
LOL
Everything worked out which is the best part of life.
Life is good!
Looking at a photo of Barron Van Claw (hope I spelled his name right). He's a beauty!
Taking care of a fish tank that large has got to be a ton of work... love seeing the pics of the fish, frogs and crayfish.
He's quite the handsome fellow~ Must be 'the dude' in the pool hey?
