Hi,
I’m still not sure how it works in user gallery. I have a new filter but before I submit it I would like some advice about how to name it, categorize it, describe it, improve it etc.
Is this the correct forum to post it to or should I use the create filter forum? smile:|

Thanks,
Ron

Thanks Redcap.

Here is the filter and the tentative name and description. This is the first time I have name a filter of this type (whatever that is) and like I mentioned I would like to know what category it belongs to, if it is ready for posting etc.

Generate Backgrounds

This filter uses a combination of noises to generate an unlimited number of random backgrounds. This filter is designed to work using the ‘Variations’ button. Just click variations until you get a style you like then set the mode and scale. It is easy, fast and will generate a large variety of backgrounds. All of the presets were generated using variations in a matter of minutes. The filter can also be controlled directly. There are twelve basic styles, seven curves, three modes and a checkbox for either color or monochrome.

I’m not sure how to interpret the lack of response so I am going to submit in as a misc and see how it does. smile:|

looks like a pattern filter to me. could use it for backgrounds, but it's a pattern filter.
If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

Thanks Kraellin, I had ruled out pattern because, well I guess I don't know why, I didn't think it was patterny. Ultimately both the simple and surface versions ended up in misc. But now that I think about it I should have gone pattern instead.
BTW, I will correct the nonsensical wording of the surface one tonight.

Hi Ron~ Have to agree a picture is worth a thousand words~ smile:D

Sounded like a pattern filter... but you say no.. .not a pattern... so...

Typically when referring to 'backgrounds'... that is a pattern filter.

Hope that helps... although without an image to look at... kinda hard to say...

How's your summer? Good? Sorry I stopped emailing... had the bottom fall out of my life for a month. LOL Everything is kewl now~ smile:D

Thanks Persidio,
I guess my intuitive understanding of a pattern has been a little distorted by FF's square-by-nature nature.

My assumption was, and I know how crazy this sounds, was the reader of the post would load the filter, look at the presets and play around with the settings.

I was afraid something had happened but I didn't want to put the bug on you. I am hypersensitive about things like that.
So far so good on the summer. I just wish life would let me design filters and stop bugging me. smile:( smile:loveff:

You are always welcome to tell me how you have been doing - even if things have not been going well.

Take care,
Ron

Hi Ron~ smile:D

Don't offer the filter... load a screen shot,,, could be of the filter on the wheel ... or an image. Just an image...

smile:loveff: Not many things that can stop me from making filters.
