artsy, welcome to FF.

looks good.

you do all the downloading and uploading of filters from within filter forge. in the main interface, down on the lower right, you shld find a button that says something like 'download more filters'. just hit that and you'll be taken to the download interface. for uploading filters to the library, in the main interface, in the menus, you'll find an image 'upload to library'. just hit that and that will start the process of uploading your current, active filter to the library.
If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

Hello Artsy~

(((((((((((Welcome to FF)))))))))))))

Well your sample is beautiful~ luv that you did~

Looks like Ken answered your question in this thread... http://www.filterforge.com/forum/read.php?TID=3347

When you download an ffxml file ,... FF will open and you'll see the file. Should you want to share an ffxml file you've created (so that others can help) (or if you want to show what you are working on to someone else)... then you can go to the area Ken specified when loading from the 'attach a file' window.

One thing about someones ffxml file,,, don't forget to give that person credit in the description area of the filter. (((important))) smile:D

I have a workshop group in yahoo where I teach paint shop pro... I had found FF and couldn't resist buying it..I have 100s of plugins already, for my PSP & PS but with FF the possiblities are endless even if I never figured out the 'how' of making great filters..it would still be worth it.. I had a workshop last Sat with my workshop group on how just to use FF..lol what chaos..to use it is the easy part..how to create your own filters, another thing..I have my own graphics site.. and also a paid membership site..so this kind of 'creating' is my cup of tea!!!!

Another graphics gal we've propably run into on the net over the years. smile:D smile:D

Artsy,,, all the women in here are graphics gals that have been on the net making graphics for some time now. Postive we've all bumped into one another or each others web sites at some point under different nicks then we use now.

Welcome aboard!!! We're thrilled to have ya and thank you so much for introducing FF to your group. Not all the graphics groups know about this filter yet~ smile:D

That statement in itself is just too hard for me to fathom... how could graphic groups not know about Filter Forge smile:?:

I was playing around with another fiter maker program when I decided to do a search for others like it...I think it was called Texture Maker... because I wanted it to be easier to use right away and more flexability, so I found FF and so happy I did smile:D

I found FF thru the search engine too~ smile:D Was looking to see if there were any new seamless tiler filters on the net. ((there was)) smile:)

Also Foxxee you know as well as I do that when those groups find out... as it trickles down the web... FF will be flooded ... I can give you my thoughts on that in email if you like~ although I did read in your posts you don't like to talk thru email~

I luvs this program~ smile:D smile:D smile:D

I'm sorry, that's the way I have always been... too shy honestly to go beyond a forum board. Did it once a long time ago and then came back and tried again... same thing all over, some very bad things happend to me. Actually you could say I could have been part of a tv new report about the dangers of using the internet. Too uncomfortable still to talk about. Hope you understand?

WOW~

Yes I understand~ I have friends that go back... way back on the net and would not have been able to do that without email. Plus Mom is in another state so I email her quite a bit. I feel pretty safe in email. Never had a problem but I have heard stories.

Forums scare me more then email because in email I have more control over who I am talking to... in forums people can be lurking and I have no idea how many people read what I say... I've overcome that fear though but... very picky about what forums I post in. This one is a good forum... I feel very safe here. smile:D

I didn't mean to say it was exclusively through using email. Email was one of the ways I was tracked... it was an online game, then a chat room, then a forum... well a few forums. I've just turned into a little lurker myself after all that mess, until I found newsgroups and this place and NWN2

Well, if your going to bed I'll say good night, we can start anew tomorrow smile:)

Ok... I gotta jump right in THIS conversation..sorry but gotta smile:) Oh there are some really WEIRD sicko people out there on the net..yes and I think I talked to most of them through the 20+ years I've been online. There was a time when I was 'looking' for a relationship, not for on line but in real time, using the computer is just a modern way of doing it. I'll have to say God smiled on me, I found my hubby from online, been married going on 6 years now and its worked out wonderfully. But oh my gosh in the 2 years I was looking, I could WRITE A BOOK with the things I've seen and TALKED to lol, and yes you have to be careful.I'm with Persidio, in forums EVERYONE reads what you write. In email just that person. But I have met some of my best lady friends on here too, wonderful christian ladies that you can depend on so you have to take the good with the bad I guess.

Well... hello to you too smile:)

Hehe, sorry we sort of got off track, but you had every right to jump right in since we did say all that right here in your thread. Sorry about that smile;)

Anyway, now that you know my computer life's story, things are ok so far. I'm a lot wiser and more mature (hopefully smile;) ) so I can just relax and take each day as it comes. But if you know what I was talking about, it really can be quite scary, not much different than if it happened in RL

No more worrying though, she's been trying to get me to post my pic (which I did) and though it seems a little uncomfortable this is the last place I'm going to share them. Everyone here I've met really makes me feel comfortable, and I haven't felt that in a forum or a group for ages.... so... how are you today, Artsy smile:D

BTW, come on over and see what Msytic is doing for her next project!

I found my husband online over 10 years ago. There were no personal sites or dating sites on the web. Hard to imagine I know. We met by chance on the web. My computer was for my writing (working on two novels when I'm not making graphics). First a typewriter, then a word processor, then a computer. My friends talked me into hooking up my computer to the Internet for the wonderful writers groups. I did. And met hubby.

Truth... I am shy around men. I never make eye contact... look down... and generally can't or won't allow myself to let a man know I am interested... hubby is very forward and the love of my life... but if he had not made the first move ... I never would have. So my thoughts on love on the net... "It's where you meet because love can happen anywhere". My real life friends went nuts that I'd met someone on the net... they were scared for me.

Quote

Exactly!!! So glad you said this because I too have found witty, brilliant female friends on the net.

And if a topic is sensitive then you care share your thoughts with your friend without getting flamed... hehe. There is a certain amount of fear when posting sometimes... that someone is going to twist your words simply because they do not like you... jealousy based usually I've found. Simply being nice in posts and other people liking you can spawn jealousy in someone... true. Then they wait for you to say something they can twist and jump like a puma... LOL.

Good to have friends because then they can jump in and say... "Get your teeth out of her neck please... LOL"

OKay I'm silly this morning~ smile:D

So Artsy... what kind of filters are you looking for with your group projects?

Speaking of tutorials there is one I've been meaning to do but have not had the time because of filter making. ((Creating filters cut seriously into graphics making time)). But now that I have my 3 HU's I have more time for graphics so I may give it a whirl... this filter I made... http://www.filterforge.com/filters/2798.html

in the comment area http://www.filterforge.com/forum/read...ssage16820

is a tutorial
http://www.byastro.com/tutorials/candle/pspcandle.html

Now I've seen net candles before... but his candle looked almost photo realistic and the filter has a very nice waxy feel ... been wanting to make some candles. Havn't made them in a long time, then they were the standard graphics kind.

Do you have a tutorial you've been meaning to try?

Very cool filter there you created.... I downloaded it.. cant resist any of them.
The candle tutorial really looks good.. Im gonna give it a try lil later...Thanks for the link.. No dont have any tutorials in the wings to try...there are many good ones out there... On my graphic site Norma's Creations... I have my tutorials there..I think alot goes to them.. but I mostly write them for my workshop students.. someones always coming up with something they want to know.. etc and ask me to write them...I will give the one on the FF site.. a try also.. on how to make the filters..
You'd THINK I dont have a life..lol as much as I'm on the computer...ha but hubby works 11 hrs a day.. so here I am... for most of that time. If you ever need something.. just holler!!

Oh if you make that candle I have to see,,, LOL... just post it in the comment area for that filter. I've been in email with Mom and working on a filter upgrade so I won't be able to try the candle today.

Love your site and see that you make background sets ((Your site is beautiful! Good Job!))... I have some filters that make the larger tiles and matching smaller tiles in varying heights... If you click the comments link on my filter pages most the backgrounds have samples of this ... like Abalone Designs... http://www.filterforge.com/forum/read...ssage27011 ((E-Chrome is like that and others... just have to sift thru the comments because most have samples)). My larger tiles are designed so that the Size/pixels can be taken to a smaller size and generate a smaller matching pattern. Was hoping someone who likes to make web sets would find them.

Since I luv to hand code with CSS and HTML I was thinking of getting some samples up.. then screenshot them smaller to show... but right now all I have are the quick samples.

I can see I'm going to have to sign up with Paypal again. That's the only method of payment you take right? Cause I will join... just no paypal right now. When I took a break from the web to work offline with my graphics... I took my sites down.. but I did buy some space and I'm ready to build again. ((no time now though,,, LOL... too busy making filters)). Propably end up making a backgrounds site or showcasing some fitlers I've made... stuff like that.

My gosh that site must keep you busy! Lots of time on those graphics sites.

I'll have to talk to hubby and get another Paypal established. Used to use it years ago and I like Paypal... been meaning to do that anyway.

((((not going to interupt you if you're working on the candle))))

That looks like a fun tutorial~ Vector... lots and lots of vector... you propably already do alot of those because of the mouse drawn tubes though... I've been wanting a wacom for years... one of these days I'm going to break down and get one. My avatar is mouse drawn btw... no wacom.. LOL... just the computer mouse. smile:D

Well, the one I wanted was about that much too, but a little harder on the learning curve for me than FF, and FF seems to have so much more than just textures going for it, so I don't miss having anything else... except maybe a good Bevel control and Drop/Perspective Shadow (EyeCandy is my lifesaver for those 2) smile:)

I can't recall exactly what it was called, think it started with a G or a C... "oh that helps, thanks Foxxee"... thought I just heard someone say that just now? smile:-p
Anyway, the company makes a lite version called 'Texture Maker 3' by Game Creators... not designers.
You think that was it, not the light version, but it looks a lot like their power program just not as powerful.
