not quite sure what you're looking for here, lynn. i can see some of these as glass. what do you see? what's the advice you're looking for? you just want some validation that this looks like glass? or did you want to know how to make this look more like glass? so, not quite sure what you're asking here.

ok. well, to my eye, 1 and 2 have the most 'glass' in them. 3 and 4 not so much. then you come back to it again a bit in 5 and 6.

as to how to do glass... 1. study steve's filters. study my glass menagerie. refraction and high pass together seem the easiest way to get glass, though i think steve has some shortcuts even to that.

there also seems to be a fine line between plastic, glass and metal and i'm not even sure i can tell you how to get each. i recently submitted that silver surfer filter and it's supposed to be metal, but i see a lot of glass in it. so, it seems very easy to cross the line on these and i'm not always sure where that happens.

if you look at your first preset there, i could call that glass or i could call it plastic. if you've ever compared plexiglass and glass you'll know what i mean. and ceramic falls in there too at times. so, it can get tricky and i'm certainly no expert on how to do any of them.

hmmm, i was looking at a glass one last night that i did a while back. let me go look at that again.

I kinda do relate what you mean by comparing plexiglass and glass. Where I used to work at we made alot of lexan lens. If you look real closely to an lexan lens you can seen the flow lines and very tiny bubbles. where in a glass lens you are going to see tiny bubbles.
I agree with you there is a thin line betweemn plastic, glass and metal. I will study your and Steves glass. Thank you very much for your help.

ok, take a look at this filter i just made. this is extracted from my 'multi-switch' filter and cut down to the basics. notice at the start that i can get the glass effect with just 3 components, the image, high pass and refraction. that's the simplest method i know of. steve may know of others. the rest of this filter is just a little enhancement to show off the glass effect a bit more.

and by the way, to everyone, this is a pretty good idea on how to show how something works; just make a 'how to' filter.

Thank you very much Craig, I see what you mean. The how to has helped me out alot. I did noticed that some of the presets I have in this filter are starting to lean toward an plastic or porcelain look to it. The more I look at the photos the more they remind me of an emboss or an glossy relief or both.
I started over and it is what I came up with on the first preset

(((Luv what you are doing!!! Very pretty~)))

Reminds me of Flaming Pear's 'Lacquer' filter.
