I'm not much for naming filters, but I think it gets the point accross. My new filter "time of day" is for changing the overall mood and time setting of the day. This is just a concept filter right now, and I want to complete a filter that has just one control that completely and accurately "changes" the time of day.

Hi aa13x~

Creative idea for a filter~ smile;) Also that you have a default time,,, that's fun that you did that. I'd like to see you add a llittle more fun to it though... maybe seasons... as well... and those sliders... names could use some Zing... so that when someone uses the filter they are completely immersed in the theme of your filter... right down to the slider names. Takes more time to do this. Just offering my advice... take what works for you and discard the rest... smile:D

I really like that you were thinking outside the box and trying to come up with a filter we don't have yet. smile:D smile:D smile:D Good job!~

Cool reply.

Does anyone know of a way to spruce things up, as far as the actual functionality goes and the things that drive the filter? I'm still not up to par with all of the mathematical features of FF, but hopefuly I'll get that second and third high-ranked filter to actually finish my plans for this one smile:D.

Persidio, I like the idea of seasons. The only thing that's holding this filter's full potential back is getting the right algorithm to make it all work.

Oh, and I'm surprised no one came up with this filter yet smile:D. It just seems that a photoshop filter community would've already come up with a filter that just changes the tones around a bit smile:D.

Tons of tones, just not a filter themed around seasons or time of day that I know of. You can search the filter library.

You're doing a great job~ smile:D I thought you did a good job naming the filter too.

Try the help files in filter forge. And keep practicing~ smile:D

I'm a bit behind on posting because I've been making filters. Going to put some previews in then heading to bed.

What drives the filters are the components, the help files should be able to explain everything for you~ smile:)

Come to think of it. I'll just make this like a feature in some 3d renderers, where you pick the time and date, and city/country/state/continent of where you want it to be, and it'll create the correct tones.

This will of course take a while to make, and really sucks because I have two HU materials to go to get a free copy of FF, and I have until the end of the month to use FF.

(Of course if the guys at FF would want to help out... that'll be cool too)

You can request an extension, even then you'll need every bit of your time to get the HU's. The three HU's are tough. If you feel you need to put this filter on back burner, that's up to you. Personally I think it would be a nice filter but it's difficult to say what the users will do. The biggest tip I can give you is that when you make a filter try to make it fun to use, give the filter a snazzy name, put fun names themed for the filter on the sliders. Make it overall easy and fun to use.

And of course if you can get one of the guys to help you out that's kewl too!~ smile:) I only have three HU's... if I had any extra I'd give them to you (if it's allowed).

Well I requested an extension not too recently, that pushed the trial up to the end of the month, and I'm not too sure if they'll be happy if I'll keep on requesting extensions.

Now that I see the filter. (((cute little guy,, needs his mama)))

back to the filter... like it~ Have you thought of making it a snippet? Seems like it needs something but I can't put my finger on it. Maybe the others here will have some suggestions~ smile;)

What do you mean by a snippet?

Oh, and I think it needs more control over the dark vs. light areas on the image. But that all will come in the next release, in who knows when...

The snippet category~ smile:D

A snippet is when you offer it to other filters artists to use in the creation of filters. They use the snippet they give credit on the filter description page~

Snippet categories get HU points too~ smile:D

My new 'Allure' filter uses one of Ron Viers 'snippets'...('Blur and High Pass Demonstration' Snippet) all info on the description page for that filter. http://www.filterforge.com/filters/4074.html

If you havn't browsed the snippet category you might want to,,, it's very nice~ I didn't use snippets till recently, but realized the snippet artists need promotion and also there are some wonderful finds to be had on those pages.

Two Snippet Categories:

and here

Time of day could be a filter... yes,,, your other option... might make a good snippet.. up to you on which way you want to take it.

Luv the samples by the way~ This filter rocks either way!

I'm pretty much confused about the snippet thing. Don't know why. But I'll upload the core of the detail multiplier as a snippet.
