I hadda take a break from the 'eclipse' one, I'ma try and finish that one up tomorrow or Wednesday. Just more dorking around tonight, simple shapes offset to create variations.

P.S. I finally solved the issue with posting examples that don't look all pixellated and f*cked up, FF shrinks them a bit, they aren't 600X600, so these should look exactly as my renders for well, the first time ever ha-ha.

----I use Andale for a picture host. I used to do ebay a lot back a few years ago (and needed the reliable thumbnail pic hosting), and every time I think about saving $3 a month and closing my account now, I find new ways to use it ha-ha. Amd yeah, for some reason the circle ones look better to me too, more fake 3-D power than the square ones or something.

Maybe you could use Zeph's "Countdown" filter concept to create numbers on them and create dial pads......especially with the first one looking like great 3D buttons..... Steve

---I dunno, I just like making fake 3-D graphics, and patterns that change each time they repeat. This twa filter is just practice along those lines, someday I'll get it right.

---Thank you, I think it looks alright myself (and ya know how picky I am ha-ha) on the round ones. One of the main tricks of fake 3-D is getting the pattern to repeat a hair different each time. I've been sick of the HDRI lighting for 6+ months now, so looking for other ways to simulate lighting/depth.

Try using super light refraction for it.....like between .05 and .1 .....with profile gradient combos (even the radial snippet of it).....and/or with a very light blend (like hazed) of perlin mapped on an elevation gradient.....on a simple result..... Steve

----I used offsets for this one, which is about the same as refraction as far the shifting/distortion is concerned. I have yet to have decent luck with using the elevation gradient for much of anything, unless I then map that to a threshold or something else and use it as a kind of auto-controller like that. The elevation gradient always seems to wash things out, like lowers the contrast (much worse than my way above) on anything I've tried to use it for, that said, maybe you know a trick or two I don't eh. Speaking of that, I'm going to finish up the eclipse-asteroid filter this afternoon/evening and try and get it submitted for the weekend, and maybe you or someone else can do a better version and remix it up. I figure if both crapa and sjeiti (in addition to my long time fans you and kraellin ha-ha) managed to stop by and even comment, then maybe it wouldn't totally be clogging up the library, at least it might make people go hmm, I can do better than that.

I got some one-on-a-page ones going with a few slightly different settings internally.

----Well, on the very far off chance that you get your wish, and FF helps us set up shop to make some real money (ie = if it don't pay rent, then I'll fail on my own doing it), then everything I've ever posted and then some will be going up. Meanwhile, I figure if stuff gets comments, well, positive ones, then maybe I'm not wasting my time one way or another eh.

----Cool, thanks. I'm not liking such radical offsets, but it's doing interesting things with the lighting/brightnesses, so who knows. I kinda figured out the *problem* with trying to get a fake lighting look going on though, ie = lack of reflections. It seems obvious, but when ya have some cool shaded shadows going on, and some bright spots that look almost like light hitting metal/glass/etc. it's easy to overlook for a while.
