Hi there,

Just thought I would offer these two gifts to the Filter Forge Community as a thank you for all the wonderful, exciting and sometimes, sublime filters that have been produced.

Another 2, possibly 3 will follow shortly

They have been converted at the highest resolution available in Filter Forge, 1000 x 500 from the original Sachform 3000 x 1500 HDRI file

Let me tell you this was no mean feat, the backyard one took about 6 hours and the hallway one took 4.5 hours, why isn't this proccess multi-threaded ?!, after all I have got a Dual Quad-core machine

The 'Backyard' HDRI is my personal favourite, it gives fantastic reflections both when crisp and when blurriness is introduced, although it does require the brightness to be ramped up quite a bit, between 450 / 480 - also, at high saturations, this HDRI looks fantastic on polished surfaces.

Enjoy

Backyard Environment 6.4MB

Hallway Environment 8MB

Any problems with downloading, let me know

Best

John, Are you with Sachform, ie = umm, legally allowed to pass these out ? If so, then thank you very much of course, but if not, then you really probably shouldn't be posting these even in .ffenv format, as they are still copyrighted and all. On a related note, I am bummed to hear they take that long to import into FF, as I was planning to get a set of Sachform environs, but I only have a single core computer and 400 X 800 images take like 90+ minutes to import. smile:|

That's a good point Jffe, no, incidentally I don't work for Sachform, just own HDRIBase 1 & 2, honestly, never even gave copyright a thought

I'm sure if this is a problem, this post will be removed...

I have removed the link to these files as I'm not sure if it's OK to post these files, even though they have been converted for Filter Forge 'use' only, i.e. they are .FFENV files as opposed to the original .HDR

Can't comment on the licensing, I think Vlad will drop by tomorrow and clarify about the issue, but the I can comment on the multithreading -- the integration process itself supports multithreading (scales up almost linearly), we just had no time to properly implement the UI for this not-too-often-used feature smile:(

----Since Genetica 3 will have full+ HDRI support, this would be a great time to suggest to Vlad that more HDRI features be added to FF in a future update (hint = V2 at the latest would make sense). In reality it (HDRI features) probably is and will be a little-used feature overall, any HDRI enhancements may be, but 1) Genetica 3 will instantly bypass FF in HDRI support it looks like this summer when they release G3, and 2) HDRI is definitely a hot thing, I see it listed on videocard specs/descriptions when they hype up the gaming capabilities, ie = it's a big selling point to a smaller audience, but a money spending audience. smile:D
