reminds me of looking down into a swimming pool on a summer's day. so, i dont get the 'caustics' part. looks more like reflections.

If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

Great filter. I'm curious how you managed that. Is it real or does it just look like caustics?: did you take a simple perlin noise and do some lightbreaking with it, or did you just feed it somekind of curve?

N.B.

Caustics is not a reflection based phenomenon - it's the inter-diffuse refraction of light through a body of water

Hope I'm not talking out my arse here smile:D

interesting. never heard that definition of 'caustics' before: http://www.google.com/search?q=define...tartPage=1

the definition i was familiar with was the chemical definition, as in caustic soda. you can see some of those definitions here: http://www.google.com/search?q=define...tartPage=1

at any rate, it looks like a couple perlins with an 'electricity' setting on at least one of them. looks good smile:)

Almost looks like chaffs or cells used as the profile input on a Pnoise, but I tried that a couple ways and it didn't look the same. One of those simple *if* ya know how kinda things maybe. smile:p
