Not been around for a while, found out that I'd had quite a serious illness for a while, just getting over that now and couldn't resist getting stuck in with Filter Forge and my passion, 3D visualisation.

This image was rendered in Maxwell Render 1.7.1, with Cinema 4D as the bridge, done mainly to test the new Sub-Surface Scattering (SSS) algorithms that are new to the system

Click for full resolution image (to see texture detail)

Textures were done in Filter Forge and the outputed components (diffuse colour/bump/displacement) used to build quite a complex Maxwell material that utilises multiple 'coating', SSS and BSDF layers

I'm not going to go into geeky things like stats and render times because hey, this is Maxwell, so lets just say it wasn't quick...

Forgot to mention that this is only one render, as the right image is the result of lighting data being changed after the render itself has finished

Model is by 3rd party - XYZ RBG Studios and is freely available on the InterWeb

Thanks for looking

Best

J

wow! that's cool. this was all done in 3d programs? all from scratch with no imported images? that's pretty freaking amazing!

Thanks for the nice comment Kraellin smile:) if you mean are there no photographic textures involved making up the porcelain-like material, then no there isn't.

Lighting and materials by me from scratch

Awesome statues where is the link for that model? smile:)
at least 90 percent of all sensation is texture, even beyond the visual, with elements of noise, tone, gradients, interval and degree.

Very nice!

Would you mind posting some texturing details? smile;)

Infiniview : here's the URL : The Stanford 3D Graphics Repository

Crapadilla : what do you require, the Maxwell material itself ? that's not a problem, although obviously you'd need Maxwell to see it smile:)

Great orange glow on the statue btw which converter did you use for the PLY file?
Just curious I can use the one that converts to blender as long as its still there.

Taking a closer look at those model stats they are Huge! No wonder your render took so long.
You must have a pretty powerful machine.
