i dont really know what to call this filter. it's sort of a colored pencil, crayon, chalk, or maybe a silk screen, but not quite any of those. so, i thought i'd post some pics and see if you folks could give it a name before i submit it.

I'm thinking something with 'Wax' in it. The top one looks like wax paper over the photo, and the bottom one looks like wax crayon. Maybe "Wax Effects"?

thanks, CF
![]() mike, interesting that you mentioned wax. i kept thinking while making this that it had a wax crayon (not a crayola type) kind of look, or maybe that effect where you put wax on a paper and then color over it. but i hadnt really seriously considered 'wax' as part of the name until you mentioned it. any others? craig If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

I was thinking that some of them remind me of cheesecloth. "Waxy Cheesecloth"? "Cheesy Wax"? "Waxcloth"?

hehehe, ok, so 'scratched, waxy crayon, snowy, cheesecloth'
![]() i used this filter recently on another photo posted at retouchpro.com. you can see the results here: http://www.retouchpro.com/forums/show...hp?t=14036 just bear in mind that they only allow 100k per image there, so the resolution is a bit low. craig If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

Geez, I don't know Craig, I'll throw a screw in the works, I think it has a beautiful rubbed effect, yes definitely waxy. When coloring as a kid did you ever put your paper over a texture like cement, wood or leaves and make a rubbing? kinda reminds me of that!

sherry,
you know, i've been trying to remember something we did as kids that was similar and i was just not remembering. your last post jarred my memory a bit. i think what we did was take wax paper and rub it onto paper and then painted or crayoned or penciled over the rub. and it gave a very similar effect to this filter. i'm still not sure i've got that exactly right, but it was something like that. so, 'wax' or 'waxy' or 'waxxed' is definitely going to be part of this name. craig If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!
