I think this is lovely. What a shame your tutorial offer has slipped by unheard. I'd love to know how you got from there to here. Perhaps we can get FF to include a tutorial link?? Somehow?? Really fine work. Peggy1917

It’ll be a long post... Anyway:
Dear Peggy, Thank You very much for Your kind words and let me tell You that I also do like Your artworks. Particularly ‘Disaster in Japan’, especially the “Before†one. If this is Your creation, I’m impressed! I myself have tried ‘Vue’ many years ago (v.4 or v.5, can’t remember), but, being highly unstable on my workstation, I’ve renounced it. Now I see what I’ve lost! -------------- A word about my artwork: Of course it’s lovely, because Laetitia is lovely (very) and the artist who made the original wallpaper is a true Artist. I bet he/she took at least half-a-day heavy-duty hard labour to finish it. Two reasons why I didn’t take credit for my touches. -------------- A word about FilterForge: I’ve tried FF out of curiosity, because Neil Blevins a true 3dGuru) vouched for it. And I was simply amazed! It’s probably the best Development Platform for HQ, Photoshop compatible, 2dFilters. Beside a lot of top notch filters, every single filter created on FF can be useful now and again. It’s also quite affordable (not for me, thus far) and I bet that if FF will go free for development and documentation, it’ll explode worldwide. Sadly, soon after, FF will be part of Adobe/Google/Autodesk/Etc. portfolio (that’s life: who knows about Altsys, Kinetix, Boulder/Co or CoolEdit after all?). -------------- A word about Tutorials: I now discovered a link on FF website (http://www.filterforge.com/more/tutorials/) where Tutorials can be found. Why on Earth the FF-Team do not promote this link as a standalone ‘Tutorials’ tab, is beyond my imagination. Since many beautiful and useful filters are quite complex, and behave sometime unpredictable, I believe both the developers and the users should be encouraged to write down manuals and/or tutorials. It shouldn’t be ‘Creative Cow’, but still... -------------- About my tutorial: I know how R&D Works, and about tutorials I have some rules. Among them, one that states a ‘tutorial’ should be posted as close as possible to either the Author or the documented Entity (credits and PageRank stuff, You know...). I, the big “Aâ€, am a perfectionist; accordingly, my website has never been released! Laughable but true. On the other hand, at the time I made “Forged Casta†I didn’t know about the tutorial link. I still have a ‘tutorial draft’ I made that time (I’ll post it down below), but I didn’t go any further because it seemed to me that there is nowhere I can place it (laziness perhaps?). Now it’s too late to create a new tutorial for the Community because: 1) My trial period expired and, believe it or not, I can’t afford to buy it. Besides, it seems that FF-Team and I were sometime, somehow neighbours, and I’ve decided long time ago: no dirty tricks in the hood (including rev-eng). So no screenshots or live captures of playing w/ FF; 2) In the process of creation almost every step is somehow unique. If you don’t capture it then, later may be too late. It’s highly unlikely that I can reproduce any of my undocumented creations ‘exactly’ as the final release. With respect and admiration, sincerely yours, Godddfather ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For those who didn’t fall asleep yet: Forged Model – Foreground And Background - (GFFT#1) Trying to develop some, say ...original, Pop-Art Techniques, I googled to see what’s done already and I found <this tutorial about an old technique but a fresh new (for me) gorgeous model. Who instantly became, in my how-a-woman-should-really-look-like top, ‘The 1st’. Runner-up! Behind Nadia, of course. Anyway: gorgeous girl, great photo (find it herehere), so I decided to start develop! The steps, for short: 1) Extraction; 2) Create the B/W drawing-like basic layer; ---- as in tutorial (AIT) ---- 3) Now comes the 1st FF filter: ‘Rolly Rolly Color Stamp v2’ / 4th default preset (forget the stars!); 4) Quick retouch (little smudge, blur, white blurred soft light blended layers, etc.); 5) 1st background layer, 2nd FF filter: ‘Abstract pop graffiti fluo’ / 1st default preset; 6) Duplicate (5), on top of (5) and apply the 3rd FF filter: ‘Aerstatic’ / 1st default preset. Set the blending mode to ‘Subtract’, play w fill if you need (I didn’t); 7) Again, duplicate (5), on top of (6) and apply ‘StarFilter Pro’ / Religious Cross Effect\Initial Settings\Output Effect Only. Set the blending mode to ‘Screen; ![]() 9) Finally, the eyes: on top, irises layer, hue/saturation etc. Here it goes: The first Godddfather’s FilterForge Technique! Amen |
