I think that this could be very useful in some way and is a great idea, and like it much.

Well, it could be useful as a base for more modification and with more filter effects applied after this filter. This could be good if you use it as an inverted mask over a photo, OR to show ONLY colors or photo textures through the squares and "X´s" and "O´s" and show the background black or white outside of squares.

Would be also interesting if the "X´s" and "O´s" that are outside of the squares could have an inverted background. I mean that as they are now, all are over white background, and it looks probably boring and plain, BUT if you could convert the ones that are outside of the squares with a black background and white "X´s" and "O´s" it would probably look more interesting.

Also you could further choose to color the background squares that have included an "X´s" and "O´s" with different colors and choose the "X´s" and "O´s" colors to contrast to the background.

Perhaps also could be used to make textures like this shown here

Yep sure can.. smile;) smile:) What I have so far and mind you its in the very early stage...You can create your own numbers set in another app...Then set it up like this...This way you can use whatever font you like...This is the easiest and fast way in FF to work with text....

I didn't really get that... Do you have an snippet that shows what you mean, or is More Advanced Text it?
Thanks!

You create the 0123456789 in another app such as illustrator, Photoshop or whatever app you use..Then make that numbered graphic like the one I posted...Now you take that and load it into the filter and the filter will take those numbers and spread them across the image...

Heres the snippet...

You can use the numbers I posted a couple of posts up for this snippet...Load these into the control that says "Number Set"

That's really neat CF!

That could actually work for a whole charset, including letters, numbers and special characters. All it takes is some patience playing with offsets.

I've simplified (I THINK) your snippet. Do you think there's any real difference between your version compared to mine (In terms of speed, bugginess, etc)?

I don't think that there is a speed difference however your version has a cleaner tree with some eliminated components.. Defiantly simplified.... smile:)
