Sorry, this is for WINDOWS only, I do not know if there is something similar for MAC
Hello, I have now got lots of zip files that are stored in multiple different folders (about 80 folders) and so I did not want to have to open each folder and then unzip the files, delete the zip file once unziped, and then go to the next folder. Searching for this I got an excellent and amazing software utility that works really well and does ALL this very easily and all automatically and work perfectly for this topic, AND IS FREE!! It is called ExtractNow and when installed it opens a small window where you can drag´n´drop a folder that can contain also subfloders with many zip files, then this will detect all the zip files and will extract them keeping the same folder that they are on, and if you want it can delete the original zip file. There are more options and ways of customizing this utility, and even you can modify the way the files are extracted and where to place them if you do not want to have them in the original folder. I wanted to make this thread to let you know about this as I think is very interesting and useful, and much timesaving and great thing to have if needed. |

Interesting. A few weeks ago I was looking for a program like this. The one I had would not run under Windows 7.

I did not know it either but as I needed now I searched for something like this and after some time I found this excellent and perfect solution very easy to use and that is all automated, you ONLY have to drag and drop the folder containing all the folders that have the zip files, configure the output and clik on start and that is all AND IT EVEN IS TOTALLY FREE TO USE!!! This is why I wanted to put it here in the forum |

I just read the description more closely. It looks like you have to drag every file into its interface to get it to work. You can't just point it at a root folder and it finds all zips in subfolders.

Instead of pointing the software to the root folder, you can drag and drop the whole folder with the subfolders into the interface and it will find all the zip files inside all the subfolders. If you have many folders (or files) you can just put all them inside another folder and bring this folder to the interface and drop it there. Why would you want to point to a folder if you can drag and drop it and get the same result? ![]() |

Thanks SpaceRay. If I can drag and drop a whole folder, and it finds subfolders, then that solves the problem. From the description I read, I got the impression I had to drag in every file.

THIS is the MAIN point of this great utility and what is really good and useful about it, as you CAN drop a folder full with many subfolders and it will find all the different ZIP files that may there and will UNZIP all of them KEEPING them in the same folders as they are OR you can customize it as you want, and you can decide to delete the original zip files when they have been unzipped to save space. |

Yes, I have it set to delete the zip files. It knows enough not to delete a zip file if it failed to open. It also lists the failures on its interface.
