A lot of the old republican ideas I agreed with. Small government, individual responsibility, personal freedom, personal privacy etc. but they have morphed into something entirely different. They are now the borrow money and have wars party

i'm afraid both parties are going down the tubes; the republicans become more militaristic/fascist, while the democrats become more socialist/communist, and all we end up with is the cold war dramatized out in our own country. neither side works very well; republicans employ fear/shotgun/big daddy tactics and democrats employ robin hood, steal from the rich tactics to pay to the poor. thus, nobody really wins regardless of which side you're on. in other words, it's the old aristocracy/feudal system cloaked wtih a middle class. lol.

consequently, i have little respect for either side. and let's not even get started about all the mud-slinging coming up soon. gawd, what a circus.

sorry ron, but the socialists, at least as i've seen it promoted in this country, miss the one principle you cannot violate in government, you get what you reward. and the socialism i've seen here rewards indigence, poverty, sloth, drug use, welfare and hillary's 'national health care'. thus, you get more of the same.

but the republicans are little better; they simply try to hide it all under the carpet and pretend it either doesnt exist or try to stomp it all out with the 'bigger hammer' method.

neither side is very workable.

I think it just means being nicer to the disadvantaged. Sure there would be some people that would game the system but this systems gets gamed now - look at Haliburton and Cheney - look at the Bush family and their Saud buddies. Many of the largest American companies have off-shore tax havens to avoid paying what they owe.

"As of 2001, the top 1% of households (the upper class) owned 33.4% of all privately held wealth, and the next 19% (the managerial, professional, and small business stratum) had 51%, which means that just 20% of the people owned a remarkable 84%, leaving only 16% of the wealth for the bottom 80% (wage and salary workers). In terms of financial wealth, the top 1% of households had an even greater share: 39.7%. Table 1 and Figure"

hehe, ron. i'm certainly not argueing for the wealthy. the system is full of inequities. and i certainly dont mind charity. it's forced, governmental 'charity' in the form of welfare and other robin hood tactics which i dont like about the demmocrats.

BIG business pretty much screws their employees. you would think BIG business would learn a few lessons and set things up which recognized the worth of those that got the big guys into big positions. that a factory worker makes $20 an hour while his boss is raking off stock options worth millions is pretty gross. but the solution isnt to rip off the big guy and give it to the little guy. that's only going to cause more problems.

and the tax system is screwed up so badly it's amazing there hasnt already been a revolution or two in this country. i do my taxes once a year and just mind-boggled by the complexity of my relatively simple stuff. my dad, on the other hand, has to send his out to my brother, who is a cpa and tax guy and we get back what amounts to a book.... a LARGE book and even with that, it still takes my dad and myself about three days to finalize it all and get it sent out... and that's just the business. his personal taxes then also have to be done. it's the most aggravating piece of crap i have to deal with on a yearly basis. and i blame both parties for that one! give me a simple national sales tax any day.

It can work, I remember seeing a Sixty Minutes [ Aus version ] report about a shipyard in South Korea [ I think was Sth Korea ] where they make the huge cargo/freighters etc all done in massive section and they turned them out dam quick, the company made massive profits, but the point was they were paying there employs starting at the bottom $75,000 US [ you know the guy who sorts the bolts out ] to boiler makers on $200,000 etc - everyone was happy - with the white collar worker on the same system. The problem is greed, and in my life time greed and the me mentality has engulfed our society - remember the time when you took something in to get repaired for example, and the guy said oh it was only a loose wire it only took me a sec to fix there be no charge, now it a hundred buck to walk in the door. Corporation make massive profits and say they only do it for the shareholder to be happy, as they give themselves 3 million bonus for screw everyone so well........... whoops going on a bit but I hate the greed, the inequity, the intolerance, the...... ok shutting up now, I was basicly agreeing with you smile;)

I'm not suggesting you do anything dishonest but consider trusting that She or others you may admire, like Neil Young or Franz Kafka for example, are better able to perceive reality than you are - they are artists after all. And when you find yourself in disagreement people like them, and in agreement with people like Cheney, then a flag should go up that something is very wrong.

No kidding. I have to see the doc again in a few days to see if the medicine is working. I dread seeing the doc about anything concerning my kidneys as she is already talking about dialysis. I've already had kidney/bladder surgery after the car accident so they are not in the best of shape, so this scares me.

Caught the cold from my son. He comes in contact with a lot of people and catches colds and flus almost nonstop from them. I remember when people used to stay home when they were sick so they didn't spread their germs. Now people seem to not care.

I'm diabetic so the fruit juices have to be limited.

Rest is the best medicine - we've got ants galore, the worst one are imports such as fire ants from Sth America and solder ants which can eat a cow in a matter of an hour, but neither are around where I live, white ants are the worst thing around here, you might call them termites, they eat through your house inside the wood, leaving a paper thin surface of the wood so you don't know there there till it's to late smile:evil:

Dear Carl,

Me and my girlfriend have been together now for about 6 months and things have been going really well, well that's what I thought until I glued myself to the laptop after downloading Filter Forge. smile:loveff:
It seems that she gets jealous and tries luring me away with sexual gestures, but when I go to her she either grabs me and dosn't let me go or she shouts at me saying "You only come over when you want sex"!
So the other day when she called me over to the sofa I told her no and she got into a right strop! smile:dgrin: The next few hours after were slightly awkward and when we had a few guests come round, she told them "Sam won't have sex with me". smile:blush:

I don't want to seem like I'm neglecting her but when I get an idea in my head I want to get it down straight away.

What can I do? smile:?:

Dear Sam,

May I first say welcome to the corner smile:)

Unfortunatly you have contracted FF addiction, this corner is a haven for suffers and we all understand the need to realize an idea banging around in our heads at the cost of all else. I personly have lived the same situation you are describing - my choice was neglet Zerin [ my defacto of 20 years ] or neglect FF, the good thing is over time she has got use to the neglect smile;) . I even tried coercing her into FF, you know the one filter isn't going to hurt you, but it isn't her thing.

Solutions
- Take 5 minutes off FF [ when the power goes out ] and explain to her quick sex is romantic and a bit naughty
- Learn to type with one hand, freeing up the other hand.
- Tell her your making and naming a special filter after her but it going to take alot of time to get the filter perfect to honor her, you can probly drag it out for a month, then you move into it needs to be a series, one filter just doesn't do her justice.
- Your on a secret governmemt mission and your creating a filter to save the world
- Is she all that, I mean there is many more fish in the sea and there is only one FF smile;)

For some people the addiction wanes but unfortunatly for others it doesn't, the more you know the harder it gets.
